We will be staying at POR and will have our own car. I'm pretty sure driving will be longer but not sure. We don't usually have a car or rental but we're driving down this trip. So should we drive or take the bus from POR. Or I have heard an option of paying for valet parking at the Contemporary and walking. Is that allowed without a reservation? Or would taking a taxi to the Contemporary be another option? Just weighing all options to get us to MK the quickest and easiest way for opening.

Unless there are unusually long waits for the MK bus at the resort, the bus is normally quicker than driving your own car or at least a wash time wise. I have not tried valet parking at CR without a reservation, but it is an option many have used and even one I will consider in the future. You can always take a taxi to CR and then walk. Usually there are taxis at each of the resorts waiting to pick up guests.

Driving is quicker for every other park BUT Magic Kingdom. Because of the whole parking lot-to TTC-to MK rigamarole, driving is a slow process there, not least of which because the parking booth lines get long for the hour or so before and after park opening.

I love the word "rigamarole". :)

Take the bus for MK but try to get a room by the West depot since that is the first stop for MK. This way your chances of getting a seat are good since that is a multi stop resort and could fill up quickly in the morning time.
