I am leaving Hoop Dee Doo at 6pm. I want to get to DHS to see Osborne lights before park closing at 8pm. Do I take a cab and where do I get one. Thank you.

Cab is almost always the quickest.

If you want to take Disney transportation you're probably best taking the boat back to Magic Kingdom (or whatever resort it may stop at first), then getting off and taking a bus from thete to Hollywood Studios.

Definitely take the boat ( which is close to HDDR ) that goes directly to MK then grab the bus to DHS as LSUfan4444 said. If you were to take a taxi you would have to first get on the internal FW bus to get to the front of the resort as no cabs or personal cars can drive to where you will be eating. So a cab in the case of FW is not always the fastest.

Still may not make it though as I seriously doubt you will get seated and eat and be ready to leave HDDR in an hour.

Will the bus get me there by 7 pm or should I take the boat to Magic Kingdom or Contemporary and then take a cab to DHS. Thank you.

The bus SHOULD get you there by 7:00 but you will have to take two buses, one from the back of Fort Wilderness to the front of Ft. Wilderness and then jump on the HS bus. You will also be dealing with all the other people leaving the show and trying to get on buses at the same time. All the internal Ft. Wilderness buses go from the back of Ft. Wilderness to the front.

The other thing that could happen is that sometimes they close the park to entry at a certain time. I was riding from AKL to HS so I could transfer to Pop and heard them making announcements over the radio that said, "we are no longer allowing people into the park, do not bring anyone to HS other then people transferring." This was around 20 minutes prior to park closing time.

Sorry I misread prior to posting, so you are leaving HDDR by 6 ..again I would take the boat which is near to where HDDR is and then take the bus to DHS.

So many variables, busses can run late boats can run later than expected, really very hard to say but that's what I would do.

If you take any transportation other than the boat from Fort Wilderness, you will want to take a cab if time is of the essence. If you want to take a Disney bus to HS, do it from wherever the boat stops first. Sometimes it goes straight to MK, but it also stops at Contemporary first, etc.

Learn something every day. I have never, in decades , gone from FW to MK & vice versus using the boat that it stopped anywhere else. Good to know this.

We stay at FW every year. Taking the boat to MK and then the bus to HW is an option but I would think it would be quicker to catch a bus from FW directly to HW. Either way (including cab) would require two methods. Cabs are unreliable and would just not even go that route.

(1) cab = more money and I just wouldn't trust that. But if you do take a cab you have to go by bus from Settlement ( Show ) to outpost (FW) where the cab can pick you up (same place bus would). Maybe cabs are allowed down at the Settlement? I don't think so, they don't so you to drive your cars down there.

(2) Take boat from Settlement (show) to MK. Now you have to wait for a boat and then the boat ride is a good 10 mins to MK. Loading and unloading take much longer via a boat than a bus. Then take the bus from there to HW.
I would say 50 - 60 minutes for this door to door.

(3) Take a bus from Settlement (again show) to front of FW. 5 - 10 minutes. Then take a bus from FW to HW and wait time maybe 10 mins for a bus and another 10 in route and another 5-10 to get to the door. So 35 - 45 mins.

You can always call Fort Wilderness direct and ask them for advice.

Unless you take the boat from CR,WL or MK. You are going to have to take an internal bus back to Pioneer Hall. Taxis are not allowed back to PH.

There is a bus from HS to FW. It will drop you at the Outpost bus stop (front of the campground) and then you will board and internal bus to PH.

The boat drops you off at the Settlement area and it is just a short walk to PH.

I would have to agree with using the buses. I have waited over 30 minutes for a boat at FW, but almost never wait more than 5 minutes for an internal bus from the Settlement to the Outpost and then rarely more than 10 for a bus on to where ever I am going. Conceivably just the boat portion could take 45 minutes to an hour while the buses would most likely have you all the way to DHS in that same hour. If there happens to be a taxi at the Outpost that would be even faster, but I refuse to waste money by using cabs at WDW when their transportation system is so great, but that's just me.
I love riding the boats, and usually they are the fastest way to get somewhere, but not in this case.
