Quicken and banking and check book????

Ok, I think I've got everything added that I need for the moment.

I've got a question. Should I even try to figure out where I made a mistake in the check book to make it equal the bank statements or just forget it. Everything has cleared that was supposed to. I know I made a math mistake somewhere, should I worry about it or not?

Is the bank ever wrong?

I would have to find the mistake, especially if it was a substantial mistake. I don't balance the actual checkbook, everything is in an excel worksheet.....with formulas it figures it all out for me. DH uses Microsoft Money.

LOL, thanks. Yeah, I'm going to have to find it. Just knowing I made a mistake is driving me crazy.

Yes banks do make mistakes, although they won't admit it. If it would be in your favor to find the error, I would do so.

They actually say I have a lot more money than my check book says. I think I may have subtracted a couple deposits instead of adding them.

I use quicken to keep track of my banking, but also regularly check my online banking to make sure everything matches. If you do this every few days, it's a lot easier to find the errors, and yes, the bank does make their fair share. They're ususally very cooperative when you go in with a nicely organized printout...

We use Microsoft Money and I balance the bank statement to it every month. Makes it easy to correct if there is a problem (rare but they do happen). It also makes me feel good every month to know it is balanced. It would drive me crazy if it wasn't.
