Just back from a quick 4-day trip to OKW and thought I would write a quick report. I see people writing all the time here to “buy where you want to stay”. Well, I have to agree! We own at the BCV, and can’t wait to go back. I have nothing against OKW, just felt like I was way out from every thing. The bus service was very good for all the parks, but not the same as being able to walk to EPCOT. The part I didn’t care for was the layout of the resort. We were in building 18, and felt like it was a haul to the main pool area. Yes, the room was very big, but since we are not there much I would rather have the other conveniences of the BCV than a big room.

I took the time and paid a quick visit to SSR to see what it was like. I think the main pool area is way to small. When the resort is finished, that pool will be a madhouse! I did tour the rooms and found them very nice. I don’t know that I will ever stay there, but who knows.

As for the DVC watches, I have a bit of info. While I was down there, I called MS to see when they would be out. They told me some time in September, but some of the DVC resorts had a list to put your name on. So I did some asking at all of the resorts to see if they knew anything about this list. I found that OKW, SSR, and BWV all had a list. I was told that when the watches were available they would call me. I asked if I would be able to have it sent to me, and was told that they assume that would be the case. We will just have to wait and see.

Well, that’s about it for now.

Thanks for sharing. We own at both BCV and OKW. Enjoy both of them. But we have enjoyed every WDW resort we have ever stayed at.

If they had an online store the watch purchase would be greatly simplified -- and the watches would probably sell very well that way.

Gazebo Rob --- we met you and your family over Christmas at the BCV --- my kids (boy & girl) played w/ your girls at the pool a couple of days diving for change that your was throwing in --- can't wait to go back.... I gotta agree with you on OKW -- we stayed there once-- it's nice but everything is way too spread out....we didn't feel a whole lot of that Disney Magic simply because we felt so isolated....liked Olivias for dinner --- but from where our room was it was a loooooong walk back to the store & restaurant.....You can't beat BCV -- it has the Boardwalk area -- the Stormalong Bay pool and our own little private pool which we love....heading back home in August - 4 days at SSR and then 8 days at BCV...we'll see how SSR is -- heard good & bad...but it's something new and we thought we tried it....maybe we'll see you down at the pool another time.....

Thanks for the report.

I can see how some would prefer a resort with lots of Disney actions going on. However, we are the type that like the peace and quiet after a long day at the parks. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Maybe it has a lot to do with our jobs and being able to have peace and quiet while on vacation at some point. So OKW fits just wonderful for us. I also like the stretched out layout. This is the beauty of DVC there are different resorts to meet your taste.

I often wonder if it also has to do with where we live when we're not "home." I'm in Boston, in the middle of the action all the time. One of my three boys lives in Miami and one lives in Los Angeles, so when I vacation elsewhere, it's usually to those busy places. When I'm at WDW, I most love sitting on the balcony and not seeing the people on their deck next door. :)

Building 18 is one building away from the "quite pool", really no difference in pools, water is just as wet.
