Quick SW cancellation question

I booked a flight last night with the sale. I just realized that I can fly cheaper out of a different airport. When I go to cancel the flight to change it, I get an option for a refund. Is this an actual refund and is it because it is with 24 hrs? Don't want to do it this way if I am wrong.
