First off I want to say hello, although I have been on this board for a couple of years it was used mostly to read things for our 2013 trip to DL. Now we are planning a trip for August 2017 to DW I have a tonne of questions.

We are looking at the option of adding the Quick Service Meal plan to our package but we are not huge eaters. There is 4 of us going (2 are our children who will be 15 & 11 at the time). Is there the option to just add two meal plans to our account instead of the 4? When I add the plan on it calculates for all 4 people. This way we can share more and then pay for any additional things out of pocket. Is this an option? Has anyone ever done this?

No. Everyone on your reservation has to be on the dining plan. Maybe free dining will be offered again next August. That may be an option for you.

Pretty sure you must get the dining plan for all in your room - and your kids are Disney adults.

Thanks I have searched to see if there was a thread regarding this but couldn't find anything! And yes also figured out the kids are considered "adults"

Free dining this year began Aug 23rd (the day I arrive so got it, yay).

Honestly, the QSDP that my DD and I got again (staying at Pop) is still too much food for the two of us. We often share a meal and drink ice water. We had credits left over last trip, so took home 14 bags of various snacks the last day.

For your family, paying out of pocket would likely be much more inexpensive as well as flexible.
