We're doing the Deluxe Dining Plan because we want to do multiple Signature Restaurants and want to try more appetizers, but I have a "stupid" question.

Can we get a Quick Service or Counter Service meal if we have the Deluxe?

I know it may be a waste of money, but we may be having too much fun at the park and don't want to wait for a seat or don't have a reservation for a TS nearby where we're at.

Thanks. I'm a newbie and haven't been to Disney since our Honeymoon almost 30 years ago. We're going for our 30th anniversary, so we want to treat ourselves to some nice dining out and unencumbered time at the Park!

Yes, you can. The deluxe plan credits are not separated between counter service and table service, so you can use them any way you wish. Have a good trip! :goodvibes

I would check to make sure you have current information. My understanding is that you want to use a table service credit for a quick serve meal. When I checked last, Disney did not allow that. Long story but it ties into the fact that only the value resorts offer the quick serve for free dining. (If you make a reservation at a deluxe resort during free dining, and tell them you want quick serve only - but will pay for table serve meals - they will tell you that you cannot do it) They want people at the table service restaurants. I think you should double check before you count on being able to do this.

On deluxe DDP, you definitely can use your credits for Quick/Counter Service meals or Table Service meals. Obviously not the best $ use of credits, but sometimes it's worth it for the convenience.

One thing to keep in mind is that Quick or Counter Service meals do not include appetizers, even on the deluxe DDP.

Have used both regular "plus dining", free "plus dining", deluxe dining and even deluxe dining upgraded from free dining. Don't know where you're getting your info from, but it's not correct. Even on the regular "plus dining" you're generally allowed to use your table service credits at your resort counter service.

HOWEVER, if original poster is talking about the Deluxe Dining Plan...the credits are simply meal credits and can be used at any combination of table & counter service restaurants. The meal credits are not in any way designated as table service or counter service on deluxe. On the deluxe dining plan, a meal credit is a meal credit--you can use all your meal credits at signature places...or all at character buffet meals...or all of them at park & resort counter service if you'd like. Or counter service breakfast, charater buffet lunch and signature dining (meaning you can use 4 meal credits in one day) Totally up to the cardholder and no issues using deluxe at any counter service place in Disney.

My family had the DxDP last week and were able to use our credits for both table service and quick service meals. As other posters have indicated, the DxDP does not differentiate between TS and CS credits.

One thing to note, some of the systems do differentiate between a Deluxe credit and a quick service credit. We were at the Pattiserie and Sunshine Seasons and wanted to use a credit, but when I said quick service credit they had problems because the system showed that we had zero CS credits remaining. Turns out there are two buttons; one for a Deluxe credit and one for a quick service credit. So, if you're on the DxDP, just say you want to use a deluxe credit to potentially avoid some confusion. (I only figured this out on the last day of the trip when the cashier at Sunshine Seasons explained it to me - I would guess the other locations didn't have the problem because the cashier saw 'Deluxe' on the KTTW card and rang it up correctly.)

That one line gave me pause. Please note that if you have an ADR at a restaurant that is far away and you don't show, Disney is starting to charge you a "no-show" fee for certain restaurants.

As others have said, deluxe credits can be used for ts or cs. While doing a lot of cs is a waste of the plan, it's very common to do some cs while on deluxe. We use a few credits for cs breakfasts on the plan, ourselves.

We did this many times in 2010.

I agree that the "problem" with Dx is that you spend most of your day figuring out where you need to be for your next meal, so mixing in some QS is helpful.

Disney promotes the deluxe plan as being flexible because you can use the credits for any type of dinning that you want. However, now that they are requiring so much time for cancellations of signature ADRs, it makes it much less flexible.

With the deluxe plan, you have the option to choose fro mCs or TS. I've done the plan twice and had no problems at all. If you were on the regular dining plan, then yes it's sometimes hard to change a TS into a CS but not on the deluxe.

Only for those type of people who schedule overlapping ADRs with plans of last-minute cancellation, etc.
For people who truly intend to keep all of their ADRs.... I'm curious to see how strict Disney is about waiving the cancellation fee. If you can't make it to your ADR because your flight was cancelled by snow, or because your kid got sick... And you have the courtesy to call the dining number as soon as possible, I would *hope* that the fee gets waived.
The fee should be charged to no-shows, and people who are obviously abusing the system.

On the deluxe DDP there is no TS credits and no CS credit. They are meal credits and can be used for either TS or CS meals, guest's choice. Deluxe credits are completely different from regular dining credits. The main difference in using them to order CS is that CS meals do not include appetizers, as TS lunches and dinners do on deluxe.

it is still flexible, as long as the guest cancels the reservation at least a day ahead of time. The major difference that some guests have is that they feel they cannot anticipate whether or not they might need to cancel the reservation at the last minute. So the flexibility you had to, for instance, decide not to show up for your signature restaurant reservation because you wanted to stay in the park instead is compromised, because it will now cost you money if you do this. There are no current reports on how WDW will handle excuses like an illness or travel delays. All I can suggest is that if you try to cancel a reservation less than a day ahead, try not to yell or be rude to the cast member.

You might want to rephrase and tell me that you have had a different experience. I can assure you, this DID happened when we were in Disney and asked a CM about it.

I have personally used the TS credits at a CS multiple times while on the DDP. Not a problem at all, just tell the CM at the register. It just doesn't work in reverse.

I don't know what your experience was but on the DxDP, the credits are not broken down into CS or TS meals...you just have XX credits. You can use them all for TS, all for CS (although NOT an economically wise choice) or do a mix of the two. The OP will have no problem at all using a DxDP meal credit at a CS location.
