Quick RS question

I heard that some rides give you paper passes to come back anytime and others give you a lanyard to ride as soon as the rest of your party is done. What determines this?
My baby naps on me in the front carrier and I'm worried that he will be napping when the rest of my family wants to ride. So if they get on the ride, I'm hoping I can get a paper fast pass to go back later and ride when the baby is awake and can stay with daddy.

It's called rider swap and I'm sorry I can't tell you how it works, single mom when DS was small so not an option. I think you have to have at least one FP and you get the whatever it is from the CM at the tapstyle. I'm sure someone will chime in and help you.

We haven't used the RS since the FP+ system came out so not sure if the RS changed also. But before, you would approach the CM at the FP entrance, let them know you would need a RS, and they would give you a paper ticket that looked like the old FP's. You had all day to go back and use it. And you could take up to two other riders with you. We did RS all over the parks and we never received any kind of lanyard. Maybe that is the new way?? We typically had FP's fr the attraction.

You get a paper ticket. You can use it anytime, usually for the rest of the month.

I don't think it tells specifically whether it is a paper pass or what, but it does clarify that the pass is usually good at least a week or more.

You always end up with a paper slip that allows you to come back whenever. On certain rides the front line CM will just hand it over once they have seen the child that is too small. On other rides, and I believe it is the ones that have seen abuse of this in the past (like BTMRR) the person that is riding is given a lanyard that they give to a CM further up who will then give them the paper pass. There is no RS that requires you to wait and ride right away. You will be fine.
