Dec 4 Dinner-OHana
We were seated 30 minutes before our ADR which was amazing and proved promising. However, service was extremely slow. They brought us salad and bread and it was a good 15-20 minutes before we saw and sides or meats. It took about an hour and a half to get some of everything and the dessert alone was about 30 minutes. On a good note, the food was good except for the turkey and pork which were dry. The noodles, dumplings, steak and shrimp were great. I was even surprised I liked the bread. The broccoli was cold and had no seasoning and the wings were a little too hot for my taste. The best part of the evening was when the server brought our check she also brought to leis and a cupcake with Mickey sprinkles and a little disc with Mickey saying Congrats on it. We were there for our anniversary as we do every year.

Dec 5 Dinner-Cape May Clam Bake
This was fun. Our first time there but DH says he doesn't want to go back. The mussels and clams had no seasoning. I found the ribs to be quite tasty as well as the fried talapia and I hate fish. The rest of the food was just okay.

Dec 6 Lunch and Dinner-POFQ Food Court
Lunch I got a chicken sandwich and fries and DH got a double cheeseburger and fries.
Dinner I got a cheeseburger and fries and DH got a double cheeseburger and fries. Here's where it gets ugly. :sad2: DH wound up being rushed to the ER with food poisoning as he had become unresponsive. Since the food court was the only place we ate that day it had to be from something there. It made for a very bad end to our anniversary trip.

Oh my goodness! That must have been so scary for you. Not a very good ending to your anniversary trip. Hope it's better next time.

Hope your DH is all better now and that your next trip to disney goes much better.

DH is doing fine now but I just checked my credit card statement and they charged me for an extra night. What's really amazing about that is that I never gave them a credit card number and the one I used to finish paying for the room two months earlier was a different card. Not sure how they got my AmEx when I used a Visa and never gave them a card for charging or express check-out. I called when the paramedics were there that I was checking-out and I called the manager of housekeeping before I left Orlando to tell her I didn't need a room that night but they charged me anyway. I'm furious now. After all that and now this. I'm skipping my annual trip next year. It's cheaper and easier to just stay home.

Wow, that is very scary! What kind of food poisoning was it? What did Disney say when you informed them?

They reversed the charge and apologized. It was e.coli according to the tests done. I told them and they did nothing. Didn't expect them to. I just want to be done with the whole thing.

Food poisoning is extremely serious. You should really report to the health board. If your DH was affected, others may be too.

here is information on ecoli. it is very doubtful it came from the food court as incubation time is 3-4 days

Incubation time: The time from eating the contaminated food to the beginning of symptoms. For E. coli O157, this is typically 3-4 days.

Time to treatment: The time from the first symptom until the person seeks medical care, when a diarrhea sample is collected for laboratory testing. This time lag may be 1-5 days.

Time to diagnosis: The time from when a person gives a sample to when E. coli O157 is obtained from it in a laboratory. This may be 1-3 days from the time the sample is received in the laboratory.

The time from the beginning of the patient’s illness to the confirmation that he or she was part of an outbreak is typically about 2-3 weeks. Case counts in the midst of an outbreak investigation must be interpreted within this context.

Dito on the time for ecoli, most food born illness will take longer than a few hours.
If anything it was from OHona.

Regardless, the OP was diagnosed with e coli poisoning and had only been eating on WDW property. I think that the responsible thing to do is to inform Disney of this so that they can properly investigate it.

doubtful it was contracted at disney. they were only there (from the food review) 3 days and was sick on the last day. not enough time for ecoli to manifest from the food eaten at disney

regardless, a horrible way to end any trip!!

hope he is feeling better :)

In most areas the doctors will inform the health department and they will investigate. The health department will contact Disney.

My children got shigella and the health department asked me everywhere we had eaten two weeks prior to the illness.

Good to know. Hopefully this procedure was followed. I guess the other issue though is that I had been poisoned by a restaurant, I would want, at the very least, an apology. So, you can bet I would be contacting them. After all, this could have been fatal.

While the symtoms typically appear within 3 to 4 days, I copied this information previously missing from other posts from the Center for Disease Control website:

"How soon do symptoms appear after exposure?

The time between ingesting the STEC bacteria and feeling sick is called the “incubation period.” The incubation period is usually 3-4 days after the exposure, but may be as short as 1 day or as long as 10 days. The symptoms often begin slowly with mild belly pain or non-bloody diarrhea that worsens over several days."

A friend of mine was diagnosed with this a few years ago and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. She started getting very ill in the middle of the night after eating at a fast food restaurant.

Sorry to hear about your DH. That's the second one I read about POFQ.

Wow ... what a way to end your visit. So sorry to hear about your DH's illness but am glad to know that he's doing much better now.

I'm glad that Disney at least reversed that last room charge for you - I would have been steaming mad had that happened to us after an emergency illness.
