Just returned from a week of free dining. There were some real gems that we ate at and also some real duds. I made these reservations after reading about the restaurants on the disboard so I knew what to expect going in. Here is the list, I am only going to write about a few table service experiences

Le cellier
Ohana
Kona cafe
Cape may cafe
Boma
Teppan edo
Les chefs de France

First night was at le cellier, we had eaten there before and knew what to expect. The food was far better than expected and the service was far worse. It took over 2 hours to complete our dinner and the wait for dessert was very long. The food however was excellent, a lot of people say this restaurant is over rated but I disagree especially after eating some of the other places. I had the three course meal, started with the sausage and polenta, it was good but very spicy, entree was the salt crusted prime rib which was excellent however could have used more salt, my father had the bone in veal which he said was very good, my wife had the gnocchi which was also good although it was basically just gnocchi with not much else going on to dress it up other an what appeared to be an oil and pesto sauce. My mother had the mushroom filet which she said was excellent. Overall other than the slow service the meal was excellent.

The next meal was ohana, i had also been there before but with all the bad reviews i was afraid I wouldn't love it, however i found it was also excellent, the meat was flavorful and not dried out, evything that came with it was excellent, not much else to say but everyone loved ohana

Next meal was The kona cafe, the bread they give you to start was excellent, I had the teriyaki strip which was very good, the teriyaki was a very nice flavor to go with the beef. My mother had the mahi mahi which she said was also excellent although it didn't look like i thought it was going to as i thought i saw a picture of it online before we left but I must have been looking at someone else. My father had the ribeye and said it was good but would have ordered the strip next time as mine looked better. My wife had the almond chicken which she also said was excellent

This is where things start to go downhill

Cape may cafe didn't live up to my expectations, the buffet was small and unless you love seafood there aren't too many QUALITY selections available. The meats were not that great, the whole place stunk of fish and the desserts were extremely overhyped. The lava cakes are just way too chocolatey.

Boma was great, we had been there before and this is the only Disney buffet I have been to that we would return to in the future, they have nice desserts, soups, an excellent meat station and some fruit selections all of which were very pleasant. Everyone thought boma was good although we prefer a sit down meal over a buffet

Teppan edo IMO is the most overhyped restaurant in Disney, we had the filet and the scallops and shared the 4 dishes between us so we all had a bit of each. Portion control is a big problem, my wife got short changed and this was the only meal she left hungry from, everything is so bland and unseasoned it's just not good, had they put some seasoning in anything it would have been better i am sure. I don't even like condiments and it was far too bland for me. We will never return to teppan edo

Chefs de France was the biggest let down for my parents. They were expecting it to be good and it was horrible. I HD the duck, the pictures looked great online but my duck was definitely cooked in the microwave, it was grey and anything above the gravy line was totally dry, the sauce which was supposed to be orange something was just gravy tasting, I had roasted potatoes with it and they were also microwaved and not good. My parents both had the filet which they said was tender but totally unseasoned also and the meat wasn't that good. Like it had been cooked in advance and then reheated on the grill. My wife had the salmon which she said was ok. We will never return to chefs de France that meal was a disgrace which i found odd because the pictures looked great online but my duck looked nothing like the pictures. By far the worst meal i have ever had on Disney property teppan edo was bad but at least everything is fresh and they had a little show

As far as desserts go everything was fine so i won't bother saying anything about them, they are all good everywhere. Of the restaurants we went to we would go back to ohana and boma and the kona cafe. We would go back to le cellier but once it is two credits it won't be one we would go to anymore.
