Quick question

I really don't think the OP intended to torture anyone, but it's sort of funny.:rotfl:

I just noticed she edited her OP after my orginal post and must have changed the hosting site, because it is different now and no longer has the pic labeled.

LOL..... yep never saw the label so I was wondering how you came up with the OP was 16. Hmmm...I would have gussed the pic was older that 88

AH! One of the great mysteries in life.. how old is that girl in the pic on the disboards.

I got that same Wheel of Fortune board game for Christmas sometime in the mid 80's.

I was thinking the pic looked more from around 82-83

No way. That's classic mid-eighties perm if I've ever seen it. :thumbsup2

I remember those perms being popular around here more around 81-84ish
so that is what I based my guess on

The early eighties were more about the feathered hair, I thought, like Heather Locklear in TJ Hooker, a carry-over from the 70s. The curly hair came mid-to-late eighties. The spiral perm really took off in the early 90s. Maybe you're just ahead of the trends where you live?

Anyone else feel like they're solving a murder mystery here?

If you want to know more about eighties hair including the jheri curl, the new wave hairdo and teased hair, I'm your gal.

I think both the feathered hair and the curly perms were "in" here around the same time, but mid 70-early 80's. Curly persm were in mid 80's here but only for the guys. Lots of guys my jr&sr yr had them. Crimping and big bangs the really late 80's with the spiral perm replacing it around 90.

OK so I jsut went and looked at old pics.
Yep the longer permed hair like in the pic was my jr & sr yrs and at the same time the guys had the short really curl hair. The short culy "fro" was what I was thinking of earlier, which had a coupel of short runs, one in the mid 70s and again right around 80, with the feathering happen late 70s-early 80s.
The longer curly hair (like the op) was replaced with the crimping and bangs late 80-about 90 with spiral perms right after that

I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I've been busy the last couple of days.

To answer everyone's question, it is me when I was 16. :)

And yes. This is somewhat in relation to the controversy concerning the ages of the Chinese. It's interesting how different the guesses are. But it somewhat proves that people can look much younger than they really are. :)

It's hard to tell with the big bathrobe. You can't see any body shape. That's important to determine a female's age.

Not for me. You would have guessed me much older when I was younger if that were the case. I went into a full size bra (no training bra for me) when I was only in the 4th grade.

I think she is the one that sent the strange PM to Cantw8.;)

? Huh? I rarely send PM's to anyone.

I live in central Indiana. We're always behind on the fashion of the day. ;)
It was taken on Christmas day 1988.

Gosh, you all remember more about trends than I do! I know when I started cutting hair in the salon in 1983 I cut a lot of short at the ears, longer in the back. We did a lot of perms and partial perms to get that back curly, LOL. Getting it cut right when it was short at the ears and longer in the bcak took some work. A lot of people would just cut it short and then leave it hanging long in the back with no blending whatsoever.

I was way off on your age. But heck, I looked at the pic and it look like it was from like 1970! I thought you were just one of those little kids with an older looking face.
The Chinese gymnasts' faces actually look really young to me.

I will never be the "guess you age" person at the fair, for sure!

I thought you were older than 12 because you don't have that "baby nose"
but I think kids lose that at different times?
My DD is 13 and is starting to lose her little flat nose
:guilty:

AKA "bi-level". :)

And so began the mullet. :upsidedow

I just got back in town & see that the OP left us hanging all weekend:rotfl:

No she didn't leave us hanging all weekend. She answered on Friday afternoon.

Actually, technically a bi-level is different and is just what the name infers. The other is cut with a "C" shape around the ears blending the hair from one level to the other. :)

And yes, so began the mullet. :scared:

edited to add: Some mullets were blended. Some not. Easier to cut if no blending, I guess. Heck some people never blend anything! I'm a blender. I have to fight the compulsion to make it all blend even when it does not have too, LOL.

Mullets were the best of both worlds to people. Short and out of their eyes, easy to do in front while still having length in the back. Ugh, ick, yuck, I through saying anything else about them. I hope they never, ever come back into style. But, like most things, they may return someday with a twist. Let's all hope it is a big twist!

Business in the front and party in the back! The best of both worlds.

Believe me, mullets have never gone away.
