Quick question, choice of title company??

After hearing how slow First American can be, I have requested to use another company. Only problem, I'm not sure which one to request??

I just did this and chose Jeffrey C. Sweet, Attorney at Law. Who is your broker?

Our broker is Fidelity. From what I've read, it seems that choosing a title company other than First American would help speed things along.

I looked in the Closing Time thread and saw Fidelity also works with Timeshare Title, Inc and Mason Title. I recommend Mason Title.

On the Closing Time thread, people have reported using DVC Resale Market AND Mason Title. I think they also work with Magic Vacation Title as well.

I just closed on a contract with DVC Resale Market in early July. I requested Mason title, they said they had to get approval to do that, as they normally only use them for HH resales for some reason. It was approved without any pushback. If they don’t want to allow it for some reason be persistent and I’m sure they will allow it.

On a Grand Cal 160 pt contract with June UY, I was assigned First American to handle the title. DVC Resale Market will do whatever you request: I asked to switch title company from First American (FAM) Title to Mason on this VGC contract agreement. The DVC Resale Market contract manager said she could do it, but first informed me that there had been problems with the FAM branch in FL and Hawaii but the one servicing CA was great. The sales manager chimed in on email and said the same thing. I will trust their experience and move forward with FAM...fingers crossed! Will let you all know how it goes.

Another thing to keep in mind if you are looking for your closing to be as quick as possible is to let the associate know this as well. That way they can be in constant communication with the seller to return everything quickly. You can pick what you think is the "fastest" closing company but if you have a seller that is dragging their feet it won't speed up the process.

Thanks everyone for the great advice! We ended up going with Jeffrey Sweet, he was a bit cheaper than Mason.
