Can anyone let me know if it is possible to use a relatives points (if they allow us of course)? I'm looking to use my uncles' and I wanted to know this before I asked him if it was possible. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! :-)

yes, my sister has dvc and i am looking at buying some and we have talked about this a lot, you can transfer or borrow them.

If you are not a member, your uncle can make a reservation in your name. If you are a member, he could also transfer points to you.

But remember you can only transfer or receive a transfer once a use year. They have gotten very strict about this in recent years.. so just make sure you transfer ALL you need. Otherwise, as Debbie B said, he can make a ressie. I also believe he could add you as an Associate member and you could then make ressies, but someone correct me if I am mistaken.

Awesome! Thank you for your help. One more thing, when do the points need to be added by? I was hoping that I could "repay" them by adding more points as a show of appreciation for them letting me use their DVC.

Not sure what you mean?

I don't think you fully understand the process. DVC is a timeshare and your uncle has a limited number of points to use at a DVC resort during a set time frame (one year at a time). Availability changes, so you can't just call and go anytime you want. Also, since you are not a member, you can't "add" points. You must purchase a real estate interest in DVC OR rent a reservation from another member.

If you want to make your uncle happy, pay him for the use of his points.

Are you adding on points to your Uncle's DVC membership as a thank you? If yes, you might want to ask him if he wants more points since he'll have to pay for the annual dues. Also that would be a pretty expensive thank you.

If you mean you are planning to purchase points yourself and then transfer points to your uncle, then he would only have a limited amount of time in which to use them depending on your use year. Transferred points retain the use year from the person transferring them.

If you haven't even discussed this matter with your uncle, you might find out that he doesn't have any extra points to give you. Or if you are lucky perhaps he will be willing to just give you the points outright. Points often rent at the rate of $10 per point so you could offer to rent the points from him.
