So - as a new resale buyer, I'd have to do a 25pt add on direct in order to have access to the DVC member benefits that were taken away last year. And when people talk about AP discounts, it's really that direct and grandfathered DVC owners can buy the GOLD AP which has some blackout dates, which is simply not availble to new resale DVC owners, right?

And on a lesser level, that if we were to buy the Platinum AP, we wouldn't get the DVC discount on that either (but it's like $30 per pass), right?

So to maximize "savings" on APs by buying direct DVC, it's to compare the cost of the points to the difference between full price Platinum AP and the price of a Gold AP?

And what are the discounts for APs for renewing a Platinum pass?

DVC listed savings (taking on faith DVC can do the math):
new / renew
Platinum: $100 / $86
Platinum+: $100 / $86

Gold (price): $559 / $475

Post 4/4/2016 resale only purchasers are not eligible for any DVC pricing on Annual Passes.

Disney Platinum Pass: $749 for resale buyers, $649 for grandfathered/direct.

Disney Gold Pass: (direct) $549

So you save $200 per person from Platinum (resale) to Gold (direct). I think I was doing quick math on the fly before picking up kiddo from school in my other post so I probably used wrong numbers.
