Hi All-

Very spur of the moment but we might be booking a trip today! Looking to go down Memorial Day weekend. I understand it will be busy but just how busy is it? We'll probably avoid Pandora. We've been quite a few times before so it's ok if we don't hit everything.

I'm a planner so this is just crazy for me! Appreciate any advice or encouragement to pull the trigger!!

Get to booking then get to planning. If you have been quite a few times you know what to do. Have fun!!!

Do it!

We're in the process of planning a spur of the moment trip too for my birthday next month (the BIG 5-0!). We'll be there right before Memorial Day (May 24-May 26). It's just a short trip with me & DH but it's got lots of firsts. We've been to WDW many times so it will be fun to mix it up and make it new.

Our Firsts This Trip:
* Staying at an Epcot area resort instead of a MK area resort
* Experiencing Epcot during F&GF
* Doing the KTTK tour
* Eating at Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish

I do feel a little guilty since we aren't taking our 19 yo DD and she's adores Disney. But, she's been there several times and we're all going back as a family in August for a week. And she gets to go to Europe for 5 weeks this summer!

Spur of the moment trips are the best, we were able to do one many years ago. It's still one of my favorites. The reason why, lack of time to plan everything out. You know you can't so you are forced to just go with the flow and enjoy whatever happens. As long as you are satisfied with your hotel accommodations and you are willing to just go with whatever is available for dining it is great. As you've said you are a planner, so am I, but I must say having no or little time to plan actually took a lot of stress away. Just go and enjoy.

We visited on Memorial Day weekend several years back with little notice too. We stayed at CBR and coincidentally, the hospital where I worked had booked a group trip at the same time and we kept running into people we knew. :wave2:It was a whirlwind and I do remember it being quite hot. There were no Fast Passes then and I vividly remember pretty long lines. The Jungle Cruise line was particularly brutal......but we treated ourselves to a lot of ice cream too! :cool1: So in many ways planning is much easier now. But that was one of my favorite trips, probably because I didn't have to stress over details......and we were WDW veterans by then and just went with the flow. So plan what you can and enjoy!

Life is short. Do it! More Disney, more happy vibes! Good luck planning!

It's been a few hours since you posted....but I hope you did it! We did a Feb. vacation week trip planned just 2 weeks in advance last year, and it was awesome!

I'll chime in! We've booked last minute trips a few times including last Memorial Day weekend. My advice? Pick three must-do's and leave the rest to happy circumstance (we always choose a new attraction, a tour or a new restaurant). Yes, it will be crowded, but if you keep your plans to just a few things you HAVE to do, you won't feel the pressure to see and do it all.

I've been on Memorial Day a number times and all my trips are last minute. I'm hoping to go at the same time, but won't know until next week for sure. I've never had a hard time - RD, big mid day breaks and then shut the parks down. I like being out of the parks when they're busiest!

Also, with few exceptions (I'm looking at you V&A) I can get great ADRs. I prefer to eat late though, so I know that helps. Also, know that reservations at the Swolphin can be easy to get (sometimes impossible though if there's a convention renting out a place.

I think you'll be fine... our last 2 trips were decided on about 30 days in advance and we did everything we wanted to do. We don't do a lot of ADRs but even the last time when it was very busy we got a last second Rose & Crown reservation for 7 people that same afternoon. Got FPs for everything we wanted except 7DMT but only one of my children was tall enough to ride it at the time anyway. I don't think you really need to plan a billion years ahead of time if you have already been a few times and understand how the crowds work, how FP+ works and all that. If you were a first timer and didn't really have any idea about what you wanted to do or how to book anything then I would say planning further out to get acclimated to that makes more sense. I hope you have a great trip!
