We are staying at POR for two days prior to our Disney Cruise this spring. Since we will be eating tons of big meals on the cruise, we would like to avoid spending a lot of money and eating a lot of really rich, heavy restaurant food while at POR. Last time we went to Disney, we took an uber to a grocery store to get food for the week, but since we are only spending 2 days there this time, I don't think it is worth doing that. What kinds of quick meals do you throw in your suitcase and pack for eating in resort rooms? (So far, I have easy mac and the shelf stable Barilla marinara pasta. :) Thank you!

We bought some Bumblebee “Snacks On The Run” (a box that contains a single serve can of either chicken salad or tuna salad, 6 crackers, and a mini spoon.). You don’t need a can opener or any special tools to eat it. They make a good snack for when you want a little substance.

There is a large variety of soups in microwave containers you could bring. They also sell corn, greenbeans, carrots, and black olives in single serve containers similar to applesauce. I always pack fresh fruit and veggies. You can't take it on the cruse but you can take it within the US. So think sugar snap peas, baby carrots, clementines, and bananas.

Good ideas! Do you pack the produce in your carry on or checked luggage?

Aldo has these too in a different brand.

You could do this as a "real" meal...you'd just leave out the cilantro, buy microwavable rice packs, and warm the black beans, salsa, and corn in a separate bowl (or keep it cold) and then I'd serve a pile of rice, a pile of the veg, and then mix on the paper plate...since it's canned goods, it's very packable and it's light and veg forward, and it's cheap...

Ready rice is pre seasoned and precooked rice in a pouch that only needs to be microwaved. It comes in different flavors. Or the make rice cups that are similar to Easy Mac.

instant oatmeal doesn’t need milk and is easy to pack for breakfast.

To make this feel "meal" and like you won't go for something else, I'd bring some dried diced apple, diced apricot, some raisins, or some craisins - pretty much any dried fruit you'd like. Then, I'd also bring a nut or seed pouch. Finally, I'd bring a Horizon's milk box. The fruit, nuts/seeds, and milk make this seem like a "restaurant" filling meal vs a few bags of lowly oats:)...plus, it hits all the health needs for a good meal and not a snack:)...

Our quick meals are PB&J with fruit and chips
Tuna with small packs of mayo from a local deli, fruit and chips
Cereal with milk from the resort gift shop.

We do a food store stop car ride from MCO to the resort.
Pick up some food items - like the fruit (apples, bananas and oranges, do not need refrigeration)

The CS has forks, knives and spoons (all plastic)
We pack paper plates and bowls.

If we do a large lunch - we do a light dinner in the room
We do the light in room dinner about 3 times in a 9 day WDW vacation.

My kids do lots of backpacking trips so they are experts on this. The bring flour tortillas instead of bread because it holds up better. Then roll them up with peanut butter, Nutella, tuna from a pouch, etc... oatmeal packets, ramen, pouches of instant mashed potatoes, cliff bars or other protein bars, dried fruit, I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of it all right now. Sometimes they bring bagels depending on space in the backpacks.

I would just do a grocery delivery service to the resort. A family of four can easily go through a case of water. Just not having to buy water in the parks pays for the delivery service

Produce can go in either and I have done both. Obviously any thing liquid like the canned stuff I mentioned goes in checked bags. I do usually stick one applesauce pouch in the quart size liquid bag if I have room for it because it's a quick, healthy snack.

I packed garlic, onion, and dried mushroom in checked luggage.
