Quick magic band question

We've always had magic band because we stay on property. My niece is going down for a conference in Orlando and they are going to Disney for a few days. They are getting their tickets through Undercover Tourist. My question is can we link our old magic bands to their tickets under their account?

DH seems to think we can but I wanted to ask to be sure. If we can not do they need to pay for magic bands? (the gray ones not the special character ones)

They CANNOT use your old MBs.

But, they do NOT NEED to have MBs to make FP + or to enter the parks.
They can do everything with the plastic tickets.

If they just WANT MBs, they can purchase them.

They can't use your magicbands (as far as I know, someone will correct otherwise). Oops sorry I was wrong apparently.(and slow!)

Are they staying off-site? If on-site, the will get their own bands to use as room keys. If they are off-site and wish to use magic bands they will have to buy them. Whatever kind they want to buy and they can use them for ticket access but that is it. No room charging, door access, etc obviously for off-site bands.

They are staying off site. It's more of a convenience factor to not have to worry about carrying their tickets. If we unlink them from our account we would link them to their account. We have several magic bands from staying on site and have bought our own character ones as well. We do not need all of these trust me.

No, but they can buy their own bands even if staying off sight.

The band is linked to a person, not an account. Once it's linked to someone, that is the only person that can use that band and they are not transferable. They will have to use the plastic ticket or purchase new magic bands if they really want them.

OK got it! Thank you for clearing it up. There is a reason I came on here to ask and didn't just go with what DH said to do. It just didn't seem quite right but I wanted to be sure before having that ...."discussion".
