Anybody familiar with it?

I have a female friend who want's to do a quick trip and this is the only place she can afford. She doesn't mind if it's "worn", she just want's to be safe.

Thanks,

I stayed there about 3 or 4 years ago. The location of the hotel is great, safety isn't an issue (be careful like you would be in any big city, use common sense). The hotel itself is just okay, if all you want to do is use it to sleep and take a shower, it's fine.

Location = good

hotel = so, so

safety shouldn't be an issue, the hotel is a bit worn though

Thank you both. She doens't mind a "nothing fancy" hotel, as long as it's safe. She's got to keep the price down, or she can't go.

Exactly as stated above... GREAT location, not so great hotel. It's old and needs to be refurb'd. If that's okay with her, then it should be fine, as long as she knows what to expect.

They have a really cool car museum there. I think it's on the top floor of the IP. Classic cars. It's very neat, even for people who are not into cars. :)

My favorite Vegas site, CheapoVegas, has their review of the hotel here. If nothing else, it sounds like you should steer your friend away from the IP's buffet.

Most of the rooms at the Inperial Palace face the Carnival Court, which blasts loud music up into the rooms 18 hours a day. Even if the airconditioning is on and the TV is loud, you hear a BOOM BOOM BOOM in your room at that hotel.

Stay away!

IP just went through a room refurb this spring, and should have all of the rooms done by now.

Do NOT eat at the buffet, it consistently rates as one of the worst in the city.

I have stayed here about 3 times. I've been to Vegas about 20+ times. As said earlier great location and rooms are ok. Go to www.cheapovegas.com there are reviews and links to all the hotels websites. You can check prices at the hotels websites for the dates you want. Sometimes you can get a better price than IP.

As I said I know quite a bit about Vegas, so if you need any more information I would be glad to help.

Great location. Very skanky hotel with noisy, dated rooms.

For about the same price range, try the Gold Coast (they are 2 minutes away from the strip but have a free shuttle which drops off/picks up at the hotel right next door to the IP). A lot of locals stay here.
