We leave a week from today, on DxDP but we are paying full price (long story--booked pre-free dining, bad info from a AAA TA--now have a new AA TA but didn't re-book as would lose room & ADRs)

Free dining has been extended.

Is it worth a call to the new TA to ask can we be credited the price of the DDP and just pay the difference for DxDP...or do we have to then cancel and rebook the whole trip? I think I remember something from here about you can't get the AAA room discount with free dining.

It is not worth it to me at any price to lose our room and ADRs, 7 days out from the trip of a lifetime.

And yes, the moral of the story is never go back to AAA for travel. I know many in various places have great AAA TAs. Not so much here.

Thanks in advance.

First off you won't lose your ADRs. ADRs are completely separate from trip reservations. You can make ADRs even if you are not staying at a Disney hotel, so take that worry off the table. Be sure to get the list from AAA including confirmation numbers. If it will make you more secure, call Disney with list in hand and change the phone number included with the ADR. Many people use a cell phone number.

The Free Dining public promotion that Disney annouced back in April had to be booked by June, so you couldn't get that even if you wanted to. If you now have the basic DP you can upgrade to Deluxe and should be able to do that w/o penalty. It needs to be done at least 72hrs ahead of your arrival.

If you have the Deluxe plan and want to scale back to the Basic plan you would be subject to a change penalty that would likely make the move not worth it for you.

Even with the drama you've had the Mouse has a way of giving us magic, so sit tight and get ready for the Magic that comes with that first stroll down Main Street!

Maybe I'm confused--which might be good in this case and I can stop obsessing and go back to packing! I thought free dining had now been extended through December of this year. That's why I was asking. To the extent I am confused it must be my teenagers in combo with menopause cause I distinctly remember having a brain at one time! Thank you.

I do see some Free Dining offers out there.

You would have to rebook your trip and be subject to whatever penalties are applicable. You have to do the math and decide what is the best for you.

Your ADRs will not be impacted if you make a reservation change.

The free dining you are seeing is an offer made to SOME people and requires the PIN provided to each of those people with the offer. It is nontransferable; and from what I can tell, it does not include ALL dates between now and the end of the year, only CERTAIN dates - and these might be different in each offer.

How do you get the offer/PIN? Nobody knows - but if you were going to, you likely would have by now,,, and it doesn't include the current free dining period anyway.
