Help me fellow DISser's!!!

My dog has bilateral ear infections, and the vet gave us ear drops for him. It's fairly easy to give them to him when both my husband and I are home, but I'm not doing so well trying this by myself. For some reason, he thinks me sitting on the floor with him is some kind of new game. :) I spend more time getting my face licked than I do getting ear drops into him.

Has anyone had to do this by themselves before, and how did you do it?

BTW - he's a 120lb Nwefie puppy. Definitely not a good lap dog, and VERY wiggly,

Thanks!
Jen

We are very lucky...when our Daisy needs ear drops for her ear infections, she just pretty much lays there!:rotfl:

My suggetion for you would be to REALLY REALLY tire your pup out. Take him for a nice walk/run, play fetch or chase or something with him and get him just about ready to fall over...and just as he's getting comfortable for a nap, pet him, praise him, and drop those eardrops in!;)

wait until your hubby gets home!

I've had to wrap my leg around the dogs head, kind a knee hold, and then had to be really fast with the meds. Ours is a ointment with a long applicator rather than drops. Good luck. (Shesh! 120 pound PUPPY? Glad I dont have to clean up after that fella!!!!) PS: ask your vert WHY he has ear infections. Could be an allergy to his food.
