I realize that saving money is on everyone's agenda, but, I am going to tell you what I tell everyone else. Reserve the size of car you need, sometimes you get to select from full size, sometimes from mid size. It depends on supply and demand and varies from day to day.

One more question, what happens if you rent a car ( full size) with a coupon for a Saturday night stay. Rental day is a Tuesday to the following Tuesday(8 day rental) but bring the car back on Sunday, 2 days early.

Not asking for a refund or anything, would be happy just spending the agreed upon reservation price.

Would they try to charge me additional fee for bring it back early.

Rental is one way from MCO to FLL

They have been known to charge you the going rate per day based on the day you picked the car up which may or may not work out to be more than what you reserved it for.

If you return the car more than 24 hours early, they will recalculate the rate. Which could cause the rate to go up instead of down. We had to return a car early in November 2009 due to a death in the family. When we returned it the system automatically calculated a new rate based on the new rental dates. The rate DID go up. We were able to talk to an agent to get them to adjust the rate for us. They were very accommodating.

However if you are renting for a longer term to save money when a shorter rental is more expensive, don't expect them to adjust the rate.

it seems as though my thread has been hijacked!;) I just wanted to clarify my statement. I thought I remembered reading here that alamo at mco has no standard aisle and that those with a standard ressies are directed to the full size aisle. I will change my ressie to a full size if necessary. thanks!:thumbsup2

Last time we rented at MCO, they didn't have a standard isle and we were okay to pick a car from the full size isle. If standard is a cheaper rate, go ahead and reserve that, you should be able to pull from the full size isle.

Sheri,
While on my break today, I asked a Customer Service Rep. about your question. You would go to the full size row and select your car. Don't change your reservation. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that's good to know. This is how I remember it too, but was waiting for your answer first!

gmeh1 Would love to read your view how they would handle the above when turning the car back in early.

TIA

We reserved a Standard size for our trip a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised when they said to go to the Full Size aisle and select a car. There was no aisle for Standard size cars.

Jimbo, I really don't have an answer for that. I don't work in reservations or returns. Your best bet is to call Alamo and ask.

This was our experience last week. We reserved standard and were directed to select a full size. Our experience with Alamo was excellent. About 5 minutes total at the desk and less than that at drop off.
