Queuing etiquette question

We will not be arriving at Epcot until the middle of the day. I had an idea that when we got to the park, my partner could go ahead and queue up for Spaceship Earth while I went and grabbed Fastpasses to MS for the two of us. I thought this would be a great time saver, but then of course I’d have to cut back in line at SE in order to catch up with my buddy.

Generally how do people react to saving spots in line for someone? I wouldn’t want to violate any rules of etiquette obviously, so is there general consensus of opinion at WDW on this issue?

I'm not sure about the etiquette part of your question, but I have rarely seen a line at SE later in the day, so this might not be an issue for you. Good luck!

A one person line cut rarely even gets noticed whether it's someone joining one other person or one joining a group. I've done it and had it done to me. What does cause issues, and has prompted me to speak up, is when one or two get in line and try to let a small army in ahead of them later. I always tell the ones holding the place in line, 'It would be much better if you went back there to join them'.

I don't think anyone whould/should care if you held a spot for your party...especially for just ONE person.

After all... if your firend did not join you and you rode by yourself, his spot would be empty in your car, so what possible difference does it make anyway?

I have never cared if someone cut ahead of me to join/rejoin their party.

It's those kids who are PRETENDING to be joining their party that really get to me...

...amazing that they think the rest uf us are so dull that we don't know what they're up to. :wave2:

It seems that if you can see the person in line you are joining and they are looking for you and you and they wave at each other - some sort of acknowledgment from them before you work your way through the line - then others know you are joining someone and can see it's only one individual (not a group as has been mentioned). A smile and politeness as you work your way to them is always nice.

I think personally if the person in line has already gotten into the building area in a queue and can't be seen - it's not such a great idea to try to work your way inside and find them.

Sometimes a line can move so quickly that the person in line has to let people go by them since their other party hasn't shown up. The people you let go by don't mind, but when you decide to "step back into the line" - THAT person usually gives you a weird look.

I agree Spaceship Earth should not be very busy by afternoon, everyone has moved into the World Showcase where all the countries are.

I hate this! One person is okay but more than that is rude. We had 8 people cut the line in front of us at HersheyPark last month. The people behind us went nuts and were yelling at the group. It was ugly.

lulu is right, by mid-day most of the crowds will be in the WS area or at TT or MS. There won't be much on a wait, if any, for SE. Also, the cars in SE hold 4-5 people, so one person joining someone up front won't add to the wait for the people behind you. Don't worry about it.

I agree that you probably will find little to no line at Spaceship Earth, so you might not need to bother. It is typically a walkon mid day.

As a general rule, I personally don't ever jump up to meet people, even if it's just me. We wait until everyone is ready to join us.

It might cost me 10 extra minutes, but I feel better that way.

When people want to pass me, I generally will let one or two people go ahead if they are "really close". If it's more than one or two, or they aren't "really close," I'll balk. I'm also a lot more suspicious of the tweens and teens, because they are sneaky and up to no good. ;)
