Queues where I can see the kids waiting

My kids are now old enough to ride without us but I will only let them wait in lines where I can watch them. I am not so familiar with DLR (both parks). Can you guys help me with a list?

Interesting.

Most of the Fantasyland rides, Matterhorn, Finding Nemo subs, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Incredicoaster and most of the rides on the Pier.

I'm sure there are plenty of others I'm forgetting but those are off the top of my head.

Thanks! I am stuck in WDW mode and FP thinking from our last trip (finding a FP ride for 2 is easier than 4 sometimes). We sent them on Aliens and Carpets on their own Bc they had the FPs and we didn’t.

DL - Winnie The Pooh, Small World, Matterhorn, Nemo subs, Autopia?, Dumbo, Tea Cups, Astro Orbiter, Haunted Mansion? (I know you go inside, but doesn't the ride basically start then?)

DCA - Little Mermaid, Incredicoaster (kinda...it's outside but you can't exactly see your specific people the whole time, as I recall), ferris wheel, golden zephyr, swings, the jellyfish, Mater's junkyard, Midway Mania?

DLR has a lot more outdoor queues than WDW due to the better weather, but a lot of them twist and snake around things and keeping an eye on them may be difficult at lot of the time. FP lines aren't usually so long so that may be okay for you. On a few though they enter the structure, but the line still goes for just a little bit more.

I don't mean to pry but how old are the kids?

DLR rules are that a child must be 14 or over to enter a park and children under 7 must be accompanied by a person 14 or older to board an attraction.

Just a heads up.

I assume they’re 7 and up since they specifically stated that they are “now old enough to ride without us.”

My daughter is literally counting down to her 7th birthday this April so she can go on rides without us. She’s already planning on starting with her favorite, GOTG. 😂

Right. Under 7. Once they’re 7, they can board alone.

They can also sign themselves out of the Kids Club on the DCL at age 7, IF the parent gives them the rights.

Age 7 is a big deal in the world of Disney.

Yep, 7 and 9. We did it for the first at WDW this fall and MAN were the CM "strict" about it. They must have been asked 100 times. The kids were so proud to go on some rides on their own - very cute.

That's funny. My kids have done some rides on their own but not much. Last year at 15 and 14 I thought they'd want to dump old mom and dad and go on their own. No Way. I asked them why? They said: "Dad you are the Disneyland expert, you know exactly where to go when....we wouldn't even know where to start without you."

Of course I owe what I know to the real experts, and these discussion boards....:cool1:

That's precisely what my kids (15 & 12) said to me when I suggested they go hang out in DCA while their dad and I do Chef's Counter at Napa Rose ;-) Then, they somehow convinced us to take them with us to Napa Rose, which I think was the plan all along!

Yep, my kids are 18 and 20. Still can't shake them. :rotfl2:

this is an interesting question - we've just always ridden all the rides with them and I never considered that technically they could go alone. TBH I can't think of a ton where you have a really good eye on them...even open air/fairly simple lines like Incredicoaster aren't visible 100% of the time and don't really have a good vantage point. If I were to send my oldest two, who would be 9/7 at next visit, I would feel comfortable putting them on Fantasyland rides, maybe Autopia if the line was pretty close to the start, probably BTMRR with a fastpass just because it moves super quickly, toy story, incredicoaster, symphony swings, all cars except RSR...maybe that's it? I definitely err more on the lax side - but for me I would probably be less concerned about visibility at all times and more about how long is the wait/ride. BTMRR isn't particularly visible but especially with a fastpass it's generally less than 5 minutes. Pirates is visible for a lot of the line, but I wouldn't be comfortable with them deep in the bowels of Pirates for 12 minutes without an adult. Same with Nemo.

Anyway, this is very interesting to think about. Good luck!
