I am close to booking my family's first trip to WDW(thanks to all of your help). We have to go in August and had pretty much decided on CSR after reading the info on the CSR websites posted here. However after reading about how hot it will be this time of year, AND that CSR is set-up similar to a desert, and does not provide much shade from the heat, would it be worth it to switch to another resort just to get some relief from the sun? Is their that much of a difference?...

We are going for a week, 8 days/7 nights...do I have to buy the UPH for the whole stay?..If we arrive mid-day on day one and are leaving in a.m. on final day, wouldn't it make sense to buy PH passes for a shorter period?..how does that work, do they activate them on a daily basis?..can you use them one day and then skip the next day?

any advice from you experts would be appreciated.

I can help you with the first part of your question:

No, don't bother changing resorts based on the "theme" being a desert. Florida heat IS like a desert, no matter how wintery WDW tries to theme something. Just for example, Blizzard Beach is set up to look like a ski resort -- yet it is just as hot there as it is at Typhoon Lagoon. Even in a shady spot the temp. here doesn't change much.

Actually, to be accurate, Florida heat is not dry like a desert. It is humid like a swamp. hahahaha..... (you can tell I am not a native)Go to CSR if you think it looks good to you and have a great time at the Dig Site pool. You'll be hot anyplace you stay.

We are going for 7 nights and 8 days. I have an Ap pass, but for the rest of our party we are buying a 5 day park hopper plus. This gives 5 days of park hopping and they can be used anytime. Plus you get the water parks too. The park hopper passes do not expire, so if you don't go to the parks for 5 days then you can save it for your next trip.

And with a park hopper, the days don't have to be consecutive so you can certainly skip a day..or 2 or 3.
