I have a few questions about DLR California, they've prolly been asked before, sorry if they have, but, I heard a myth that walt disney had somewhere he would go and sit, and he could see the entire park, is this true? and if so, does anyone know where it was?

And, has anyone noticed over by space mountian, there is like an unfinished, unopened attraction? anyone know what it is?:surfweb:

Welcome to the DL boards!! Have not heard of those in all my days so I will be anxious to see the answers also!

Andrea

The "unfinished attraction" - are you referring to the Observatron that's on top of the building where the AstroOrbitor used to be? I don't think it's worked in quite a while (it used to whirl around and the metal things would open as it "communicated"). The space underneath has been many things - I think it's a shop now, but it was Radio Disney for a while.

I know he would eat every Sunday at the Riverbell Terrace if he was in the park. There was a room rumored to be where he would go to see the park and it was in the castle.

Okay, I circled in red on the map what i was talking about, I've never seen this working and always wandered what it was, anyone know?:

I believe that was the old ride Rocket Rods. Where they'd just shoot the cars out really fast - that was pretty much the ride. It broke down a lot and had a lot of issues. Before that, I think it may have been the People Mover, but I'm not 100% sure on that. It hasn't been operating with anything for quite awhile, I believe.

Rocket Rods, but before that, People Mover.

anyone else miss the peoplemover???

lol, i sorta forgot what that ride is about... but i am pretty shocked that people mover has a human casuality on it. I mean come on! :)

there are some rumors that Disney still maintains the tracks. aka meaning they might bring people movers back.

I would be soooo stoked... I loved it as a kid... It was a nice ride to sit and relax on...

Well, its been a long time since I rode it (obviously) and I was pretty young but it was a slow moving ride where you went through large dark rooms with lights projecting on the walls. One was a racing scene I think and one was just lights. Then you would go through the Star Tours queue room and by the monorail. I don't remember enjoying it that much but it was nice and cool in the summer. I do miss Rocket Rods though! They really need to put something in there!

what exactly did the people mover do?

I suggest watching the Disney documentary by modern marvel :)

basically, its a relaxing vechicle that goes like 3mph on the track and kind of goes through a lot of random stuff with a sneak peak of different other attractions.

Wasn't it the people mover too that towards the end of the ride it would make it look like it shrunk you into little tiny cars??

no that was inner space and at the beginning you went through a telescope that "shrank" you. . . the people mover was just this nice relaxing ride to rest you feet. . I wish they would bring the people mover back and country bear jamboreee back. . . i HATE the pooh ride and I love winnie the pooh!!

What do you mean by that Albort?? Was someone hurt on People Mover??? We love PM at WDW. Its a nice relaxing ride that takes you through Buzz and Space Mountain.

I love the WDW pepole mover! Thats one of the best rides with a great short line too! But hey at DL you get Mr Toads Wild Ride! so its a swap of sorts.
