If a tree falls in the middle of the woods and no one hears it does it still make a sound?
technically, no.Yes.
Do dogs REALLY see in black and white?
technically, no.
they can see very muted shades. their cones aren't terribly developed, and thats what helps them see in color. they do however have very developed rods, which lets them see better at night, and have greater peripheral vision than we do.
however, compared to human vision, they do see in "black and white" their colors are very muted. i think they see blue okay, but thats pretty much it.
dogs have poor vision, so they rely more on their sense of smell which is far superior to ours.

that illustration shows the wavelengths that humans can see compared to dogs.

i just studied sense/vision in psychology. i'm not just a total nerd who knows stuff like this lol
Why do people think that if you were, glasses, have braces and you are tall you are a nerd.
I have glasses,i am 5'5 and i used to have braces and i wasn't a nerd.
Except MY dog. He can tell different colors. He knows green from brown and brown from red.
well, every individual is different. color is very relative. your dog may have more developed cones than average dogs. just like other people may have better or worse vision than other people. just curious, how do you know that your dog is reacting to the color and not a characteristic smell of the objects?
and remember, when you're looking at a photo in black and white, you can infer what colors are what, your dog may have learned that that shade of gray is what you're refering to as brown.

this photos is in black and white, but her hair is blonde, her eyes are probably blue, her overalls are probably a dark blue, and her shirt is probably black or navy, and we can tell that by the shades of gray that each part of the photo is.
Good question. =/Why do people think that people with glasses are nerds?
