Questions regarding Pirate Night?

We got all dressed up, and I was surprised that we were in the minority (3-night Dream on 1/2/2014). However, I highly recommend getting dressed because these were the best pics of the cruise.
more poel will dress up on longer and the special cruises that attract more retuning cruisers.

I wonder if more participate on the longer cruises.

Do most people get dressed up for dinner? Or do they wait and just go to the deck party?

I'm curious how many dress up on the European ones.... its a lot further to carry your costume!

On our Med cruise in June, there were a LOT of people dressed up on Pirate Night. Nearly as many as I've seen in the Caribbean.

We go to dinner in our costumes. Half the fun is being in costume as long as possible. Heck, I'll wear mine out to the bars and stumble back to my bunk like a drunken sailor afterwards.

We love pirate night! But that being said we have 2 different sets of costumes: the first for longer cruises is full on pirate costume for us and second we have just have less of pirate costumes. This last cruise in September (the Southern Caribbean) we only took black pants and pirate t-shirts. The costumes and all accessories take up a lot of room and since we gone for 2 weeks didn't want the hassle. My next cruise is a 4 day (March 2016) and we will only take the shirts this time. Have fun with it! You will see various forms of dress-up.

We will be first time cruisers and plan to dress up somewhat on Pirate night: We are going to wear our custom family cruise shirts and then bring some eye patches and jewelry and then use the provided bandanas. We would do more BUT we are cruising over Halloween and will also be dressing up for that in real costumes and so I don't want to overdo it - too much of a good thing. Plus we travel from far away and don't have much luggage space.

We like second seating. We got dressed up before the show, went to the show dressed up, then attended pirate party #1, dinner, pirate party #2. In between all that we found as many photo ops as possible with pirate characters and did the family photo I posted above. At the show I just made sure we all took our hats off. ;)

We traveled with a whole other garment bag for the cruise. We had my daughter's dresses (Anna, Cinderella, and Alice) plus pirate costumes for all three of us plus nicer clothes. I suspect we'll have an even crazier time on the next one because we are doing a Halloween cruise so we'll have all our Halloween costumes on top of all that! It's possible we are a little over-enthusiastic in the cosplay department. :P

There is no such thing as over-enthusiastic. I'm a Disney fan, after all! That said we are not really costume people or Halloween people. DH and I have not dressed up for Halloween in 10 plus years. I am forcing myself to do a family type costume this year and make it a once in a childhood experience for our kids. Actually, one reason we want to cruise over Halloween is to get away from the holiday in our home town and neighborhood. It has evolved to where it is just tooo over the top - too much hoopla and drama and too many expectations all around. It's going to feel good to do something totally different and without the social expectations!!

Sorry, in re reading above I realize that I kind of went off topic. Just trying to motivate myself to get going on figuring out our costumes!
