Questions Regarding Disapalooza

There are other meet ups and events that are being organized by DIS'ers, but not official DIS Events. Some of these include:
•Social viewing of Osborne Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Thurday 12/10 @ 6pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Yeehaw Bob @ Port Orleans Riverside on Thursday, 12/10 @ 8:30pm. Cost: Free admission. Buy your own food and drink.
•Kathy's Peeps ride "Journey Into Imagination" on Friday, 12/11, around 5pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Drink Around the World, Version DAP '09. Starting in Canada, World Showcase, Epcot @ 5:30. Cost: Park admission. Buy your own food and drink.
•Give Kids the World voluntourist experience. Donate a couple hours at Give Kids the World on Saturday 12/12 @ 8am. Cost: Transportation to/from GKTW~see thread about this, people are looking to share a taxi or rental car.
•Utilitarian viewing of the Osborne Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday 12/12 @ 7:30pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Brunch at House of Blues on Sunday 12/13 @ 10:30am (tentative). Cost: Price of brunch + tax & tip.
•Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on Sunday 12/13 (entry begins @ 4pm). Cost: Price of MVMCP ticket.

These are just some of the things that will be going on over the course of the weekend. I know for a fact at least two other major Disney fan groups are having events throughout the weekend as well.

If anyone has anything to add or edit about the above list, please let me know.

Hope that helps!!

and this is why you rock Todd

Ok, I answered part of my own question in case anyone else is wondering.
TSM tickets are $25 per person and non-refundable for any reason. If you choose not to attend you will still be charged AND the DIS will be required to pay WDW for your spot regardless of whether you are a no-show. I'll postpone sign-up till I can be sure. Now if only I knew how much the Marty Sklar event would cost . . .

Very true, thank you for helping me... let me just say what I am so excited about is hearing Marty Sklar, it would be an awesome experience.

I could be wrong (everyone is entitled to be once in their lifetime) but here is what I can recall:
•The cost for the Toy Story Midway Mania Party (Saturday 12/12, 9pm-12am @ Hollywood Studios) is $25 per person, non-refundable, payable by credit card upon signing up for the event (which must occur before a certain date to ensure credentials can be delivered to your home address) unless you are booking a stay through Dreams Unlimited Travel.
•The speaker event on Friday, 12/11 is being offered to TSMM Party go-ers then, if and only if there are more spaces, open it to non-party go-ers. Exact time, location and cost of speakers series has yet to be announced/determined. Most likely also non-refundable.
•The live Podcast recording is to be at the Swan/Dolphin Resort On Sunday 12/13. Time and exact location are yet to be determined. I believe this is a free event, however, you will need to use the TSMM Party credentials, as well as be pre-registered, to attend.

Thank you Todd for all of that information, now I have an schedule of events that if I do go I have to attend! That was so helpful

Anthony,

Come on and join the fun. It will be my first Dis event too!

You said that you were a 22 year old male? I think we have just the group for you to hang out with! :

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2298629

hahaha hilarious! speaking of which, have you seen the wednesday ABC comedy line up... Cougar Town (one of the funniest shows ever)

Thank you guys so much for all of the information and the overwhelming welcoming feeling from all of you guys! I am so excited to find out if I can go or not that I seriously can not wait any longer. I am going to have to badger my manager!!!

Anthony,
I will pass on saying come to DAP as everyone else has already said that. OK kidding, come to DAP!!!!!!

I am mostly a lurker as well, but have started chatting with some of the people on here and even went to a DIS meet in Indy this year. Try to explain to everyone that you are going to meet a bunch of strangers in Indianapolis and talk about Disney, you will get some strange looks. But it was a great time.

I am going to DAP, not alone but I may as well be because I'm the only one in my family that loves Disney, the rest tolerate it. But I can tell you this, if they were not going, then I would go alone and not think a second thing about it.

I read somewhere you are 22, you need to joing Drink Around The World, that would be a great way to break the ice and get to know everyone. Here is the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2198508

I'm upset because my family is having dinner during that time and there is no way I can leave them to go drinking, they would shoot me.

So again, I say go. Oh and for that cougar group, well even better!

Scott

I definitely think you should go. All of my friends & family think I'm weird too. I go to Disney every year and I'm 30 (without kids). I can't wait to meet everyone at DISapalooza. Everyone on here is great (with the exception of a few - no names). :goodvibes You will definitly have a great time! Look for me...I'll be the 30 year old acting 12.

Is anyone staying at the Grand Floridian during DISapalooza???

I think that you should go! I have never been to a DIS event before so I do not know anybody either. I am bringing my mom along with me(she lurks but never posts). I am also 22 and many people don't get my Disney obsession, but that never stops me :goodvibes

I've never been to a Dis'er event and look forward to this one! Even without a Dis'er event, I've taken many solo trips and toured solo on other trips and I will say that you are NEVER alone. I've had some of my most magical moments sharing the magic with compelte strangers (like the grandmother celebrating her seventieth birthday with a first time ever WDW visit and none of her party would ride EE with her so we rode IN THE FRONT TOGETHER, screaming like little girls.) So, all you have to do is walk in and you'll find lots of friends you just haven't met yet!

Here's the (maybe) obvious question: Will TSM (the attraction) be operating during the event? I've been searching through threads trying to get information, as my BFF will be along on this trip with me and wants to know.

Yes TSM will be operating during the event. That was the highpoint of last years party for many. No waits to ride TSM.

Yes, TSM will be open & you'll get to ride it over and over and over again. Get your shooting arm (& knuckles) ready!

Yay! I am so excited! Not only do I get to meet a lot of DISers but I also get to ride my favorite ride over and over again while at WDW, staying at GF Sugarloaf CL. It can't get much better than this!

We are THERE! Just signed up, so see ya'all! I've perfected a certain "rapid fire shooting technique", now this will give me the opportunity to work on my aim! I'm soooooooo excited!!!! I can't wait for the seminar, either. I get to listen to two of my four favorite Disney heroes! :worship: The other two are Walt and Roy. I'll just have to visit One Man's Dream to hear Walt's voice and listen to him talk about Roy. (sigh) I often visit Youtube to watch the clips of Walt, too.

:cloud9: I am on cloud nine right now. DH just surprised me and signed us up for DAP even though we will just have been to WDW the week before. Once I heard the Podcast about Marty Sklar speaking on Friday, I gave DH the "puppy dog eyes" and the rest is history. :rotfl:

We haven't participated in any "official" DISMeets or Events in the past. But, we did travel on a Disney Cruise with a great bunch of DISers two years ago after getting involved in a Cruise Meet Thread. I still keep in contact with our DIStravelers and we are planning on sailing together again on one of the new ships in 2012. Once you meet DISers in person, their friends for life.

Come one, come all ... singles, couples, families. This is going to be a great weekend. I can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

We are leaving DS9 and DD6 home for this trip due to school. We will have DS4 in tow. DS4 got one of those Toy Story Mania shooters last year and goes around the house shooting everything. Also, he's a pro at the new Wii game. He's going to have a blast at the party! I'm debating on whether to tell the older children where we are going before the trip. Then again, they would have just gotten back from a WDW trip and can't complain too much.

:teleport: It's funny you should ask that ... DH and I talked about this a few minutes ago. Do you know if people will have their children with them or should I get a sitter? DS4 actually loves World Showcase. However, I didn't want to be the only people with a child in tow. What was it like last year?

I saw your thread ... Over 100 people already signed-up!!!!! :scared1: That is amazing!

You should read through the DATW thread. I'm sure a lot of kids will be there. Getting a sitter is a personal choice. I will be ditching my DD!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

You could explain that you will be going to a seminar... :rolleyes1

So... where's the best place to pick up some lime green shirts? Pooh size for me, Misses 12 for my BFF. :thumbsup2 Home Depot is OUT of the lime green Mickey paint cards. :scared1: How many of us ARE there on the west coast????:confused3

: That's an idea. It would be a half-truth. :rotfl:

:worship: I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed on getting in on the Friday session. I have Kid's Nite Out on speedial to book them to watch DS4 while we listen to the speakers. I am also trying to word in my head how to ask their best friend's parents if they can watch the kids on Thursday and Friday night and my Mom on Saturday night. People always say "anytime". We'll see if that is true. Wish me luck! :wizard:

:thumbsup2 We got our lovely DIS lime green shirts at disneystore.com. Who picked this hideous color? There is one thing to say about the color, I have yet to lose one of my children in a park and we always get noticed by other guests. :lmao: For blanks ones to iron on the logo or your own design, you can go to Michael's or most craft supply stores. They usually have every color under the rainbow and various sizes. I believe Corey is going to set-up the logo at cafepress.com for DISers to purchase the already printed shirts at their leisure. However, I haven't seen it on there yet. I assume soon ... :wizard:

For this event, DH and I are thinking about getting bright ORANGE shirts and put the DAP logo on it with our name and DISname. I will note, the ONLY place we wear matching shirts is at WDW. :rotfl2:
