Hi everyone,

Okay, so we have pretty much decided to do our May 2006 Intimate Wedding as an add-on because it seems we can save $$ by doing it that way.

My first question relates to methods of booking Disney resorts. We're looking at different websites and I'm curious if anyone has booked their hotel through AAA or Travelocity, what were the experiences like? How does this work with adding the wedding portion on since we wouldn't be going through Disney's travel agency for the resort? We're paying for our parents to fly down and we're going to have guests in at least 5 rooms. For us, we're leaning heavily toward the Wilderness Lodge. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding which room views are the best? I'm sure I'll have more questions later! :goodvibes

Thanks! :wave2:

Theresa, I think it would probably be easier if you booked through Disney directly. Don’t worry though—you can get rooms with the AAA discount when booking directly through Disney. It’s always nice to save some money! When calling the Disney reservations number, just let them know that you are interested in the AAA discount. I know that it’s out already for all of 2005, but I’m not sure if the AAA discounts are out for 2006 yet. Keep checking www.mousesavers.com for updates about the discounts.

The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful resort with such an amazing theme! It’s so peaceful and cozy there—I’m sure you’ll enjoy your stay. The Wilderness Lodge has three “view types” in their regular rooms. You can book standard view, woods view, or courtyard view. Standard view rooms face the parking lot, roof tops, etc. Woods view rooms face all the landscaping and pine trees at the resort, and courtyard view rooms face either the main courtyard with the geyser, pool, and landscaping or the newer courtyard over by the villas. Hope that helps! :)

When we stayed at Wilderness in November we had a woods view and loved it. Where we were we could actually see part of Wishes. I wouldn't recomend it if your trying to see all or even most of Wishes but it was kinda neat to see some random fireworks from our room. It was also a very peaceful view. Lots of trees and part of the lagoon with some boats passing very nice, and felt very private.

I booked all of our rooms directly through Disney for our wedding and we have a AAA rate on them no problems. The other good thing about this is if you find a better rate you can just update your ressie. If you book directly through AAA or Travelosity your pretty much stuck with that rate unless you completly cancel.

My inlaws booked through AAA and they charged them some kind of extra fee. You might want to ask about this before booking through them. I am not sure what the fee was, but it is worth checking into

Thanks for the info on the Wildnerness Lodge. As soon as we saw the pics, we knew we would want to stay there. It's nice to have confirmation from those who have actually been there though! I'll keep my eyes open for discounts. Can I ask where you had your ceremony? I'm leaning toward Wedding Pavilion but am not sure it's worth the extra $$.

Thanks! :flower:

Thanks for the heads up! Do you know if they had the AAA discount or booked directly through AAA Travel? What's the point of going through them for a discount if you have to pay a fee?? :earseek:

I did mine through Disney directly and no extra fee for AAA.

We're getting married at Sunset Pointe, once I saw it I knew I had to go there.

No problem, we’re all happy to help! We had our ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion. :)
