Hi Guys!

Several questions for you DVC-gurus! First, are dues collected on a calendar year (Jan-Dec) as opposed to a use year basis? Also, we are currently set up to have our dues drafted from our checking account on a monthly basis, just like our payment on our DVC loan. Does anyone know if we can elect, for one particular year, to pay the entire year's dues in advance, and thus save that monthly payment for the next 12 months?
AND, if they *will* allow me to do that, at the end of that year, would it go back to drafting from our checking account, or would they just send us a bill in the mail for the next year's dues?

Thanks!!!

Dues are for Jan to Dec. If you elect monthly withdrawal, you must follow that for the year. You can call towards end of year and asked to be switched to annual payment in Jan for the next year (annual payment is due in jan for the year that begins with that Jan). You could possibly then switch back towards end of that year for the following year.

However, consider that with the monthly withdrawal you are not being charged anything extra for the year by doing it monthly rather than annual payment, meaning no extra interest or fee. Thus, there is no advantage to paying annually.

Actually I posted a similar question last week. We have the monthly draft payment. I called MS and was told that you can pay on your dues at anytime in the year, even with the monthly draft. The example she gave me was...........If your dues are $600 a year and in January you pay $300, they will continue taking out the monthly payment until the dues are paid in full for the year. If you did it that way your monthly drafts would end in June. Then in January of the next year they would automatically start up again. She also stated that at anytime in the year you can mail them extra payment on dues and they credit your account. I wondered the same thing, because if we have the extra money in January, I would like to be done with the dues for the year. Some did not understand this since there is no interest charged on dues, so why pay them early...............

Yes, but if I have the money now (or in January), that's one more monthly payment that I can simply eliminate for the year. Right now that's what we're working on, is whittling down our monthly payments as low as we can get them. Thanks to some cooperation from current interest rates, I am happy to report that we're having some success.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I can do that, but make the payment on next year's dues NOW, rather than waiting for January. Do you know, Wislodgers?

I hear you on the monthly payments! One less is always wonderful!! I would call MS to find out about paying now as opposed to January. I can't see DVC turning any money away, but I would think you may have to wait until after the meeting when dues are figured out. Call MS and let us know what you find out..............

and they say that I can pay for next year's dues as soon as they determine what they will be. She said that they should know, at the latest, by Dec. 15th, and that I should just call back then and ask.
