Has anyone else noticed that no one really answers the questions being asked in threads? I'm guilty of it also , but I think we all are focused on putting our two cents in and sometimes miss the point.
Example :
" this year we have 2000 dollars to spend on each child for Christmas, but my son wants all electronics and my daughter wants all small stuff like dolls. I'm concerned that the tree will seem over flowing with gifts for dd, and ds will be upset not realizing that his gifts are fewer because they are more expensive. Any ideas guys? thanks so much!"

this thread would then blow up with people remarking about 2000 a child being to much and what the poster should do with the money instead... and maybe one out of 5 posts would give advice about the actual question asked..

I'm personally going to try to get better about doing this... has anyone else noticed this also ?

I just consider it to be the way conversations flow. A discussion about presents under the tree can turn into a conversation about dropped needles getting into the ribbons, bows and bags and then it can evolve into a debate about real vs. artificial trees.

If all you want is a response to a question without discussion, it can be answered by the first poster and then the thread can die.

I don't know the age of the kids- an older son would easily understand that his gifts cost more; but one way might be to wrap each electronic device or game individually and set them out separately, and put the gifts for your daughter in gift bags, with two or three items in each bag - then it will look more balanced in terms of number of gifts.

If there are complaints from the son, you can just explain that money goes a further when electronics are not involved.

I dont think it will be a huge problem.:hippie:

Just kidding! (I was replying without answering your question...) I've noticed it too, and been guilty of it. Thanks for the friendly reminder.
