Questions on shows and early access

Hi everyone! I am a WDW vet, could navigate the parks and fastpass with my eyes closed (almost) but we are planning our first DL trip in march 2019. I have perused theses boards and read almost everything I can (feels like when I planned our first WDW trip!) but have a few questions about the FP system…..

1) Fantasmic and world of color (hopefully back open by then!) fast pass- 1) do I need them? 2) Do I still have to physically go and get a paper fastpass or can I save that on maxpass too? 3) Would you recommend a dining package instead?

2) Magic morning early access- I will be buying a 3 maybe 4 day ticket (based on airfare) so it looks like I am given a Magic morning early access do I get to pick the morning we use this? All we have to do is scan our ticket and say we are using that that morning? I am worried we will get to the park at 855am one day when there is 8am Magic morning early access and accidently use it, what prevents that?

Sorry if I missed where these are addressed more in depth and Thanks in advance for your help!

1. If you don't have a FP, your standby viewing options are very limited, have comparatively poor viewing, and require a loooong time investment.... so they aren't "needed" but they are, you know? At this point, they're paper FPs that you have to physically obtain; however, that may change by next March (keep in mind that Maxpass is less than a year old right now...). I'd recommend a F! dining package but not WOC. (I'll only see F! that way; I've never felt the need to do a WOC dining package.) Lots of people like the WOC dessert party if you're looking for a splurge.

2. You can use MM at Disneyland only on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday. I recommend avoiding Tuesday as those seem to be the most popular by far (the exception would be if your Tuesday MM option is earlier than your Thursday or Saturday - then it might be worth using it on Tuesday). You use a separate entrance for MM so I don't think there should be any issue with using it accidentally.

1. Yes. Pretty hard to see them without. I've done dining packages for both shows, and find them worth it. I just mentioned on another post that I had a really positive experience with the less-expensive Hungry Bear takeout F! pass Memorial Day weekend; more positive than the BB package, though that was nice, too-- more crowded, though. I'd do HB again.

WOC: I've done WCT dining package-- meh-- still squished like sardines for an hour, sitting, before standing up to watch, and unless you're at the rail, you run the risk of poor view, especially if you're short, like me. On the other hand, we did the WOC dessert party and loved it. Well worth the splurge, IMO.

2. Yes, you can use your MM any day it is available during your trip (T, TH, Sat). You go through one of the turnstiles marked "Magic Morning." I would be very careful scanning into the park on a MM day and trying not to use your MM if it's still like, 8:55 on a 9 a.m. regular opening day, and you don't want to use it. On another note, many people recommend using it the first day it's available in your trip-- just because you're more likely to have the energy and stamina to get up early and get to the gate 45 minutes before opening, early in your trip, rather than waiting till the last day or two when you're dragging. :)

Hope you have a great time!

You cannot get MP for F! or WOC - you have to physically go to the machines and scan your ticket.

By 8:55, even non-MM people are let into the parks and held at the ropes. By that time, all entry gates would have converted over to regular opening and no CM would use up someone's MM entitlement. Earlier than that, just keep an eye on the type of gate you're going through.

Actually, the MM gate remains open until park opening, so just avoid that gate. *I* like that it stays open til opening, because I frequently will arrive 10 mins before opening and can use that gate to enter with a hotel key instead of the regular lines.
