Questions on AirTran and change to Southwest

OK, as of today it looks like I may get to fly AirTran for the first time for my Feb 2013 WDW trip. I will also get to visit the Atlanta airport for the first time (it looks pretty straightforward and easy to navigate, but if anyone wants to give tips on making a connection there, jump right in).

First, just tell me I'm going to like - or at least not hate - AirTran. I'm used to flying American and really have had no complaints with them; I'm a "low-maintenance" flyer, just want to get where I'm going in one piece and with a minimum of hassle.

Now, the real question. My home airport has AirTran, but not Southwest. Supposedly, Southwest will be moving in and taking over the AirTran routes from here as they absorb AirTran, but AFAIK there's been no announced date for this. IF I buy a ticket for AirTran, and Southwest takes over the routes before my trip, what happens? Will my AirTran ticket automatically be good for Southwest, will they move me to a similar flight or prompt me to choose a new flight, or will I have to get a credit from AirTran and start all over with booking flights on SW? If anyone has experienced an AT/SW switchover, I'd love to hear how it worked.
