In the book and the very first epi of DT, when they first moved into the house and found the special box with the stone, you learn that no time goes by at all while they are in Dragon land, kind of like in the Chronicles of Narnia

Right -- so why in TS II does she suggest that they'll fix Woody's ripped arm "on the way" to cowboy camp? Super mom can sew while she's driving?

It always bugged me that George never really got punished. OK so he had to have surgery to get the puzzle piece out but he usually got away without punishment.

I think dads are portrayed as doofuses in a lot of places. Commercials, sitcoms, cartoons, etc. I've seen people complain about that before. DH doesn't have much room to complain because he is a doofus.

He was in the Navy, just in port for a short time, had a few drinks...these things happen. At least he owned up to his responsibility.

Not quite always. For example in The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Pressure, he's the one who intelligently solves the problem. The same is true in The Berenstain Bears In the Dark.

As one poster said, the father is usually the idiot in the family. It's been this way on sitcoms for years.

I think it's mentioned that she died in a "fishing accident"....then cuts to real photo of tacky 'mounted' blowfish on a plaque.

What are Dora's parents thinking?!?! to just let their kid wander all over the place with nothing but a talking monkey and a backpack? don't they know that their are grumpy trolls and swiping foxes out there?!?!

Then there's the kids in the Cat and the Hat...the mom leaves while the kids sit in front of the window being babysat by a goldfish and then the kids let a stranger in the house with thing one and thing two?????

DS always thinks Piglet is a girl.

I never thought about Toy Story parental issues until today.
