Questions from a first timer

I started a thread in trip reports because I have lots of questions as a first timer and I thought that would be a good place to keep them all in one thread. But was informed over here was a better place to ask questions. (Though I did get lots of great feedback over there.) So here is my second round of questions:

Question A:
We will be going to the parks on a Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday - staying on property, with park hoppers. I planned to make park reservations for whichever park has early entry. But that looks like it is 2 mornings at DCA and 1 morning at DL. I understand you can get the most done in the morning (pre-hopping time) and there is significantly more in DL. So I am rethinking that I should do park reservations on our last day for DL even though it is not early entry.

Thoughts?

You are correct, and I would probably rope-drop two days at Disneyland, even if it's not the Early Entry day. Just consider it one day where you don't have to start as early. This is something that others may disagree on, but I think your instincts are right.

I really wish they would do away with the need for reservations and park-hopping time restrictions as they have at WDW.

We are WDW folks who took one big DL trip in 2023.

With 3 days, I would 100% plan to do 2 reservations to start at DL, even without the early entry. So much more to do there where you benefit from rope dropping.

Recommendations for car service from DL to LAX or am I fine with Uber?

We usually Uber to/from WDW now that Magic Express is gone. We find it least expensive and reliable. Just want to check if that would be the same at The Land?

I personally prefer Lyft, but in any event, be aware that at LAX, you have to walk to a separate rideshare lot for pickup, whereas car services can pick you up right outside baggage claim. (Anyone know whether the higher-level rideshare services are considered car services and can do that?) Whether that's worth the extra cost of a car service is up to you.

I have used Milwilshuttle for the last number of years. I am international and I fly into LAX. I book and pay online in advance. It usually costs approx $100 for 1 person and 1 checked bag.

They have a WhatsAP number and when I am waiting for my checked bag I text to say I have arrived. Then when I get my bag I go out to the private car pick up area, which is curbside outside the arrivals door. I text the driver with the pole number and my photo and then the driver arrives within about 10 minutes, depending on traffic. They send the car model and drivers name.

As a solo female international traveler, I have had no issues with Midwilshuttle and I will be booking with them again this summer.

I personally prefer Lyft, but in any event, be aware that at LAX, you have to walk to a separate rideshare lot for pickup, whereas car services can pick you up right outside baggage claim. (Anyone know whether the higher-level rideshare services are considered car services and can do that?) Whether that's worth the extra cost of a car service is up to you.

We are only flying out of LAX. (DL is at the end of a larger California trip.) I assume it would be the same on the return end - we would need to be dropped off at the separate rideshare lot?
(This is not a deal breaker for us just want to know what to expect.)

No, any level ride share can drop you off directly at your terminal. The restriction is for pick ups only.

Can’t answer question B because we always drive to DLR, but for A, your instincts are definitely correct. We are doing this in June staying on property with hoppers, same days of the week, and are doing DL, DL, DCA. We really have a preference for DL being the first park we enter, so we’re forgoing early entry Monday. You can get a lot done at rope drop at DL - typically more than at WDW in my experience - and there’s a LOT more at DL, so you’ll want two mornings for all of that.

Important to note, if you book a ‘Black SUV’ from Lyft, they will pick up curbside at the terminal and you don’t have to walk to the LAX-it (pronounced LA exit) areas
