Questions for the 7 for 4 vets.

This isn't my first time. I've been in the off season. I've stayed off site. And I've gotten a good deal on season at the Dolphin. This 7 for 5 deal has me wondering.

We've never been worried about price before, but I left computer programming to become a teacher and then spent this school year substituting and my wife just changed jobs for one with less pay. We're trying to make this our best trip yet for our 13 yo who we just adopted in Dec. She's never been, and this was someplace she said she really wanted to go when we met her last summer. We want this to happen before she gets too old to appreciate it.

This July we're going to CBR for 4 nights / almost 5 full days (wed thru sun). My wife can't take off more than three days. There's no way we can take advantage of the deal. We've got two rooms because I have 2 teenaged daughters that refuse to put up with my snoring.

Questions.

Is there any chance that any other specials will pop up?

What are the chances that we will get an upgrade at CBR with all the people taking full week vacations hanging around?

With all these people making week long stays what does that do for our chances of getting adjoining rooms? Another first for us. When it was just three of us we did all stay in one room.

Do you think they would be willing to give us a deal on a 2 room suite? It would free up two moderate rooms.

Should I call and ask after everything calms down or just leave it alone? I don't want to tick off a CM and chance our ressies getting screwed up.

Charlesand Camilla:

I am sure that lots of folks will give you their input, but let me start the ball rolling:

First, on the adjoining rooms. If there are only 2 adults (older than 18) and the rest of your group are younger than 18, my understanding is that Disney will make every effort to give you adjoining rooms (make sure you have this request listed on your reservation).

If Disney does the 7 for 5 deal, I believe they will get a boatload of people booking for the expected time frame (7/5 thru 11/18). If that happens, there will probably be few deals other than annual pass rates (and last year they did not offer AP rates for much of the package time frame). If offered, AP rates are often 20-40% off rack rate; you only need one AP to qualify (you could get park hopper passes for the rest of your family if you do not plan to come back to WDW within the year). AAA offers approx 10-20% off room rates if you are a member. Since you are a teacher, you should be able to get the teacher discount at the Swan or Dolphin resorts (tho it sounds as if you want to stay at a more "Disney-themed" property this time?) You can rent DVC points from an owner who is not going to use them....you may be able to rent a one bedroom villa at a fairly competitive price (check the DVC section on this website). If you have one, the Disney Visa card may have some sort of special for the summer months; right now there are no deals pending but you never know. Keep checking this site and Mousesavers for deals...you never know what may pop up.

Hope this helps....good luck in your plans and know that you will be blessed in trying to make this family trip special for your 13 yr old :D
