1)If I have SWA Ticketless Travel Funds that Expire next June and I will be unable to use them until July, is there a suggested time to call the Customer Service folk to request an extension (Ie:should I do it right away)?

2)How difficult is it to transfer the funds over to another person ?

3)Is it recommended to book 2 - 1 way flights rather than return flights and why ?

thanks

I don't really know anything about the first 2 questions but as far as I know, SWA only books one way travel. At least I've never been able to book a round trip ticket, only two one way trips.

1st? Yes let them know you intend to travel but you need an extension

2nd ? My understanding is they need the TTF number and the name of the person it was originally in (ask about this when you call about 1st ?

3rd Book one-ways and get 2 confirm numbers . This way if a DING comes up and you get it for oneway and not the other you don't lose you 2nd flight pricing. You have to cancel orignal flights to get the Ding and apply TTF.

In other words say you have a DEC 20-25 book XYZ - MCO at $80 each way thats $160 RT .If a Ding comes and you get XYZ-MCO for $40 but the only flights left for MCO-XYZ is now $200 you still have to cancel the entire thing so you at $240 no savings.

Now if you booked one-way each way you would be at $40 down and still have your $80 flight sitting and waiting .

Also if it's just an internet discount or special you can just change flights thru Travel center and it will only effect the flight your changing. But you can't do this to get the Ding price.

If you have ticketless travel funds, SWA advised to call just prior to the expiration date (like a month ahead of time). I suppose they wait until the expiration date just in case you do need use them.

in answer to number 2

the person to whom you transfer the funds just needs

the confirmation number and the credit card holder's name ....

we have done this before using ticketless credit that our sister in law could not use....

Is this new that SW only books one way travel? or is that just to use your ticketless travel funds that you have to do it that way. As many times as i've used SW, i've only booked 2 one ways once, the rest have always been roundtrips.

This is offend confusing with SW as it does charge you and state that they are all ONE-WAYS.

However for the point of cancel ,TTF, and Dings. It depends on how they are linked in the system.

One-way = 1 confirm number
RT = 2 OW =1 confirm number
2sep OW=RT = 2 Confirm numbers

Best way to put it in each confirm number is linked to a leg of travel if they are separate then yuo can make changes to just that leg. If they are linked ( 1 confirm) you have to cancel both and rebook both.

Thanks for all your responses.
As a follow up.......I'm still not clear whether there would be any problem to ask for an extension now,or wait until closer to the expiry (June) until I call them ?
thanks
