We are flying in about a day and a half before our Disney Cruise and staying at the Polynesian (garden view). We will arrive about 3:00 pm on a Thursday, so I am reluctant to use one of the days on my daughter's park hopper (DH, DS, and I all have APs, but DD doesn't). Since we have never stayed there before, I thought we'd just enjoy the resort that day. We have seen the resort in the evening and it is absolutely gorgeous.
1. Where should we go to enjoy the ambience in the evening.
2. I'd love to see the fireworks from the MK and the EWP. Is that possible from the Poly?
3. Where should we go and what time?
4. What else do you recommend for our day/evening there?

Thanks for your help!

We are running into the same sort of problem for our trip in Aug. We won't arrive at the Poly until about 5:00PM...so we made arrangements to have dinner at Ohanas then on to an Illuminations Cruise at 8:15!

Ohana's is always a wonderful way to start a Poly vacation!

Also, the Luau is a nice treat, too!

Between those above, swimming in the Volcano pool, watching the Electric Water Pagent, and Wishes from the beach.....

you could also ride the monorail and check out the other monorail resorts and SHOP!;)

As stated above, swimming at the volcano pool, dinner at Ohana and watching the fireworks and the EWP from the beach are all great things to do at the Polynesian. I you have a car you could also go mini golfing. We also like to ride the monorail and check out the other resorts. The Polynesian is our favorite resort.

To answer your question, in addition to what the other posts said, yes, you can see the electrical water thing and the fireworks from the Polynesian. Just go to the beach by the pool, find a nice seat, point yourself at the castle and watch. I'm not sure about the times though.

In addition to dinner at Ohana's, I recommend breakfast at the Kona Cafe. They have this french toast with banana in it. (I forget what its called.) Its soooo good.

Oh, yeah, that's it! Very yummy.

Don't forget about Downtown Disney too. Lots of great stuff to do down there. ::yes::

Don't know that I'd call myself a Polynesian expert even though we've stayed there about 30 times since 1983. I know that there are others on the DIS who are more long term guests. But we do love it!
::yes::

The Electrical Water Pageant is each night at 9:00 pm sharp unless MK Wishes is at 9:00 in which case the EWP follows about a downbeat after Wishes ends!:D As Bambi Tambay said, just head toward a beach and make yourself comfortable. There are three beautiful beaches at the Polynesian....be sure to enjoy them.

Rent a boat and explore Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

Be sure to try dinner at Kona as well as breakfast. The cuisine at dinner is on a level with other much more expensive spots at WDW.

Wander the resort in the early am or at night and enjoy the peace and beauty.
