Questions for Hawaii Veterans

Is Hawaii seasonal? Are there times of the year when it's better )weather, crowds) to visit?

We are thinking of Kapalua Bay Hotel. How is the beach there? Is the surf suitable for young children to play?

Are there alternative places to eat nearby, rather than the high prices for hotel meals?

It's true that some Hawaiian timeshare resorts don't have air conditioining. That's why I chose not to stay at the Sands of Kahana, which was available through Interval International. Even with a breeze off the ocean, it can be hot and humid in Maui, especially during the summer.

The Kapalua Bay Hotel is a super deluxe Starwood "Luxury Collection" resort, not a timeshare resort. I've never stayed there, but I would be very, very surprised if the Kapalua Bay Hotel doesn't have air conditioning. See http://www.kapaluabayhotel.com/

The ambient temperature varies very little throughout the year, but the surf conditions are greatly different on the northern shores depending on the time of year. The waters are not safe in winter for most kids on the north shores... The southern shores are generally safe and stable year round. The best thing is snorkelling- awesome!

don't really know if hawaii is seasonal or not. we stayed at the kapalua bay resort for 10 days this past august. there really is no surf at their beach. terriffic snorkeling and scuba diving right from the beach, with all sorts of sea life, including turtles and octopus. our stay included breakfast, buffet or a la carte, because of DVC. there are plenty of restaurants close by, including the big chains like mcdonalds and outback. both of our rooms had air conditioning. we noticed a big (10 degree cooler) difference from kapalua to the other towns down the coast. this was a big plus. it is a simply gorgeous place your family will enjoy. feel free to e-mail me or pm with any questions.

Been to Kapalua several times. There really is no off season in Hawaii. Don't know when you plan on going - but be aware that winter months in Kapalua can get a lot of rain. Kapalua is one of the wetter spots in Maui - but don't be discouraged. That also makes it lush and tropical with plenty of rainbow sightings. Plus you can always jump in the car and drive 15 minutes to Lahaina/Kaanapali for more sunshine year round. That's also where you need to go for dining at places other than pricey hotel/resort restaurants.

The rooms at the hotel are air-conditioned.

The beach at Kapalua Bay is in a cove so its protected from high waves.

Beautiful place. You won't be disappointed.

Do a Google search on 'Kapalua Bay Hotel' and 'air conditioning' and you'll see that the resort is air conditioned.

Hi.

We snorkeled at Kapalua Bay last June and the water was calm there in the sheltered cove area. We didn't venture out past the cove area, though. We saw lots of fish and coral.

My mom and dad are leaving for Maui tomorrow (wish I was going too). The whales should be in now. We missed the whales because we went the end of May and first part of June. They were already gone:-(
