Questions for Going in a Big Group

This summer will be the first time we’ll be going with more than two people and I’m trying to plan effectively so things go smoothly!

A few questions...

1. I plan on loading everyone's tickets into my app. Will they also be able to add their tickets to theirs too? Or are they only allowed to be in one app? We already have our tickets so figured we’d get that done in advance.

2. For MaxPass, I was going to pay and book them all from my phone. But if we do end up separating, if I’ve already purchased MaxPass for their ticket will that show up on their app if they’ve connected the tickets? And on that note, will the FP reservations for us I make on my app show up on theirs?

I’m thinking of when we enter the FP line, can everyone scan on their phone individually? Or is it just easier for me to do it all?

Those are the main two logistics questions I had!

Now for the general stuff- what advice can you give me when visiting in a large group? They’re all first timers and have no issue with me being totally in charge. Which should make things go smoother! But since it’s their first time and I’ve been plenty I want to make sure they have a good time.

Thanks everyone!

1. You can load them on as many phones as you want.

2. They can all be managed from every phone. If you make a reservation on one phone, the other persons phone will “know“ that that reservation exists.

In line, everyone can scan individually, but it is very easy (easier in my opinion) for one person to do it.

I had a post a while back where people gave a ton of great tips for big groups. If I can find it, I’ll edit and add a link here.

Oh cool- that makes it so easy. I might just be the keeper of the tickets then.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I’m probably overthinking this but when you’ve only ever gone as a duo it makes imagining leading a group a bit intimidating! Things are so quick and easy in a small group- we can walk up last minute to parades and shows and sneak a spot and navigate the crowds faster!

Glad to help. I added the link above. The main thing I learned about a large group is that there will be more unexpected stops than you’re used to. My group was especially slow, but regardless of that, instead of dealing with the random needs of two people, you’re dealing with the random needs of a bunch of people, so someone will almost always need to be doing something that’s not in the plan. “I’m just going to run over here for a minute to get a snack… go to the restroom… Sit a minute… Look at this gift shop… Take this picture…“

How big of a group?

Have been with several large groups...it can be worse than hearing cats as everyone has different expectations and moves at different pace.

Best tip I can give ya...schedule some "group" times like meals, shows or a key ride or two...but allow time for everyone to splinter off and go tour that park as they want at other times. Some will wanna go hard core E Ticket while some may wanna shop and others may wanna just stroll. Best success is when there are times where we say "go do whatever for a few hours and all meet up at XX at XX:XXpm" otherwise people just get frustrated.

We would have families and different age groups all split apart to team up and go hit the parks together how they wanted for a while. Gives everyone a bit of perceived "me time" even without the family obligation of sticking together.

These are all such great tips- thank you! I will definitely have different expectations going into this! I think designating a time each day to split up is a wise choice.

Will you have another trusted adult (or older teen) in your group? If so, have the tickets on their phone, too, just as a backup, in case your phone goes wonky. Also, take a photo or screen shot of each ticket, with a clear image of the bar codes, and keep those on your phone and the backup phone. If your app dies or if the tickets get lost or stolen, the photos will help you get the ticket/s replaced quickly and easily at Guest Services. And, needless to say, if your phone will be the one doing all the work, make sure to have battery backup with you -- either a fuel rod (vending machines in various locations in both parks and the on site hotels) or whichever other source you prefer. The last thing you want is for your phone to die! When herding a large group, you'll have enough to think about without having to worry about that!
