Questions for a July visit

I was hoping someone could give me some advice please.

We are going to Univeral and IOA after returning from a cruise - July 1st. After getting advice from this board (thank you :) ) we have decided to stay onsite (Royal Pacific) one night and to go to WWoHP on Sat morning with our early hour. So Friday we will do the main park from 1 or so pm until 10 pm.

Question is - how early should we go on Saturday? If parks open at 8 for us (9 am normal opening time) -what time would you head to the boat, if that is how you wanted to get there? Or should we walk? We are headed out that evening on a flight - should I have a change of clothes for the flight? Will it be so hot we would want to change, or are there really wet water rides at IOA? I guess we can always plan to buy tshirts as a souvenier.

Also as for WWoHP - my dh and ds will want to ride Forbidden Journey. But my dd and I will want to skip it - should we just walk through the castle with them and go to the gift shop while they ride? Should we all go straight to Forbidden Journey or do some shops first? Both dd and ds are huge HP fans - how long will it take to see it all in that area?

We will have to leave IOA by 4 pm to get to MCO - what are some things we shouldn't miss after HP?

How about Friday at Universal - with only 1-close - what are the must dos?

Sorry, I am sure some of these questions are repeats. Thanks Everyone!!

I've never stayed onsite, so I can't really advise you on a good time to head over to the park on Saturday. I think walking might be faster, unless the boat is right there though. July is usually hot and humid, so unless you want to be sweaty and icky on the flight, a change of clothes (maybe a shower too) would probably be wise. Popeye and Dudley Do Right are both water rides that soak you. But on a hot day in July, the lines are probably going to be quite long.

If you guys are interested in Ollivanders, I think that would be the smartest thing to do first since the line is outside and it will be crazy busy later on in the day. You guys can easily wait in line with them for Forbidden Journey. This way, you'll get to see the queue too. :) Depending on the crowds, it could take a few hours. The stores get lines, so if they wanted to see all of those, that would add to the time.

After HP, I would advise pretty much anything. I think you guys would enjoy The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, but you really can't go wrong with whatever you choose. :) It's all fun!

At the Studios, definitely do not miss the Horror Make-Up Show. It's my favorite and it's just a nice relief from the heat! Everything else is great too, but this show is especially my favorite.

xApril- thanks for the tips! We have a July trip booked too and we are totally US/IOA newbies.

xApril - Thanks so much for the tips - hadnt even heard of the horror show - will definitely have to check it out - my ds would love it!!

And I do think the kids would like to go to Ollivanders so we will go there first and then Forbidden Journey.

And we may have to switch our flight now, so we may not need extra clothes but if we have to leave Sat, we will be prepared with a change of clothes!!

Thanks Again!!:thumbsup2

I think you could probably walk to the parks faster from RPR than the boat would be. We walked from HRH and it took us about 7 minutes at a medium pace. RPR is even closer. We got there about 30 min before the gates opened and were about 15-20 people back from the front of the line. Definitely do Spiderman and Jurassic Park River Adventure and go into the Jurassic Park building (don't remember what it is called) it has some very cool dinosaur interactive exhibits and lifesize dino skeletons and gift shop and decent counterservice food. Have fun!
