Questions and Recommendations OKW

I am a BWV owner and generally we stay there. However, we will be staying at OKW for a trip at the end of March. My best friend has recently (like LAST WEEK!) finished almost eight months of chemo followed by radiation therapy after surgery for breast cancer, and we (doctors, family, friends, she herself) feel she is out of the woods now. She told us that she's ready to join us at WDW for spring break.

So, OKW is our best choice of what is currently available (and I know that it can be a VERY relaxing place). I would like to ask for suggestions from those of you who know OKW well: What should I ask for? We'll be staying in a 2BR. Other than that, I know almost nothing about OKW.

We've stayed there before, and I understand the basics of the bus service and the hospitality house, but I don't know where the best places to stay are. We'll have two 16 year old boys with us, and we'll have a car. My friend will probably want to relax a lot by the pool and on our balcony. I am thinking that we'll want to take the car to most places (except the MK) when we go out in case DF gets tired and needs to go back quickly. Is that a good plan? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks for helping me plan this trip. We've all been waiting to do so for what seems like a lonnnngggg year.

Diane usually recommends buildings 45, 46, and 56 for their canal views. That's what I would like on a trip like this. And your transportation plans sound on target to me. MK is the only place we like to take the bus to!

Continued wishes for your friends's return to full and complete health :thumbsup2

I agree bldgs 45, 46, & 56 are great buildings. South Point area is a very relaxing and quiet area and a great place to regenerate the soul. It is one of my favorite areas to request. I have been at the pool by myself at times. (Kids love turtle pond & HH area so those areas tend to be busier.)

QS food places are only at Turtle Pond and HH so plan accordingly, but if you have a car that really isn't a problem for you.

I would recommend requesting a lower level room. These buildings have stairs (no elevators) so getting stuck on the 3rd floor could really be a challenge.

Best wishes for continued healing and health. Enjoy your stay!

I would also suggest that she register with Disability Services (as my SIL did) to get a little extra help where needed. We found it to be extremely helpful. Best wishes for a great trip and continued health.
