Alrighty so I'm semi-planning a trip in April,2011. The goal is to get my father to come. He LOVES great food and wine and I think he would absolutely adore V&A. Since I'm more of an Earl of Sandwich type of girl I know absolutely nothing about it.

We would book a reservation for him & my mother and my sister & I want to pay it in full. Can we do that in advance ?

My dad has a kidney disease and he has a special diet. Would V&A be able to work around it? I can't remember everything offhand but I know chocolate is a no-no as is any kind of nut, and some veggies are out too.

Are the wines offered at V&A *really* good ? My father was raised by an amateur sommelier and he is veryyyyyy picky about his wine. I know that the ones my mom & sister were served at Cali Grill would not do it for him. Would you recommend going with the wine pairing or ordering a couple bottles?

How early should I book if I just want a table in the "regular" dining room?

Thanks for your help

Many have reported being able to do this. Call the V&A line directly to find out.

You will need to find out what kind of diet your father needs. Ask him, your mom, or a physician. You can work with V&A, but I'd get my fathers medical advice from a trustworthy source who is familiar with his case. V&A is FANTASTIC about working with dietary needs. You just need to know what he needs.

Yes they are really good - it's a AAA Five diamond restaurant. It's nowhere near California Grill's quality. (That's kind of like comparing California Grill with Earl of Sandwich - not the same class at all)

Sooner is always better than later, but the regular dining room doesn't fill up like the Chef's Table or the Queen Victoria Room. I'd try to book at 180 days if possible - otherwise be flexible with your days and call to see what you can get.

Hope this helps :goodvibes:

It definitely helps, you're awesome THANK YOU !!!

Oh another question - what is their cancellation policy?

Their cancellation policy is quite liberal. A few months ago I was going to be going with some out of town friends. One of them got sick the day before the reservation and had no problem canceling it.

Thank you both for your help, if I can get The Father to come we'll try to give this a go :wizard:
