We are going and my mom lives with us and she is going too. We are going through the dream factory which serves chronically and critically ill children. I was a little taken aback when I found out that we were staying at GKTW, because i only have my daughters healing and wellness in my mind. I can see how they would consider her condition life threatening when I do not. I think my daughter is healing and will be healed. Our organization's policy is to send people in the household, and we all live together so they are sending all of us. My oldest son just turned 18 and they are sending him too. Part of the reason might be that he is chronically ill too and was a former wish child with the same organization. We are paying for some of the things that our daughter asked for in her wish ourselves since our daughter asked for a ton of things. Grandma is making her princess dress, and I am going to make or buy something to give her a "sleep in a princess bed", something like a canopy made of tulle, which I have a ton of that I got at an auction. We are paying for the jet ski, the lego store, and the arcade. We are going to organize a walk a thon to raise money and awareness for the retinal camera she wished for the eye clinic. Just the eye camera alone that she asked for her doctor to get is $40,000. She noticed that her doctors eye camera to look at eyes with and chart serious eye diseases was older than grandma (old 35mm slides when modern cameras chart disease progress with a computer), and made part of her wish for them to get a new camera. When she is on TV, she wants to raise awareness that the Eye Center really needs this camera to look at retinas. The camera will help people just like her in our area who have uveitis.
The planning what she wanted for her dream stage came at a time for us where she was in a lot of pain, and so we kept on talking about the trip to keep her mind on something else. That is how she ended up asking for a list of things. Which is kind of awkward.
