We made our first trip to Disney last November, my parents, me and my 3 boys. We are returning the second week of September...I have been tasked to start planning our 2008 trip...

On our next trip it will be the same players plus my brother, his wife and two children...

My biggest question right now...if I start booking dates for next year....(we are looking somewhere between Aug-Oct) when codes come out for discounts or if they offer the free dining again, can I alter the current reservations that I already have...or at that point do the current reservations get cancelled and we make all new reservations?

We will stay at one of the value resorts...most likely 3 seperate rooms...unless my DF is able to attend then we will need one suite and 2 additional rooms...which would mean All Star Music...

Any thoughts or suggestions on the benefits of booking this early?

I booked my rooms prior to any discounts except AAA. When the discounts came out I called and was able to get the discounted rate on my reservation without cancelling. I plan on doing the same thing with my February trip. (Hopefully there will be a discounted rate announced.)

You'll need to cancel your old reservations.

I'd really wait until spring 07 to book your resort. Any discount codes/free dining won't be annouced until April 08. There really isn't any benefit to booking this early. Especially since your not sure what rooms/resort you'll need anyway.

The only advantage to booking early is being able to make smaller monthly payments toward your vacation so it doesn't hit you so hard at one time.
