My sister and I plan to run this race next February, and then run the Disneyland half so that we can get our coast to coast medals. Would it be too much of a nightmare to stay off site and then have my husband drive us to the start? I'm leaning toward staying at Pop Century and assuming that disney transportation will get us to the start line. What do you guys think? Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand your question, but...WDW will ahev host hotels for the event. ONLY those hotels provide direct transportation. Usually there is one hotel in each category (value, moderate, deluxe.) If you do not stay in the host hotel, you will have to go to the host hotel for the bus or take a cab or have your husband take you.The runs are in the wee hours of the morning and the traffic to get in is HEAVY.

Pop is not a host hotel. There is a list of hotels in the runDisney site, just click here http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/rundisney/princess-half-marathon/index?page=resort-packages

If you have questions, come to the Princess thread on the WISH board. It's under "Just for Fun" on the disboards main page.

You could stay offsite but will need to provide your own transportation. From the RunDisney website:

Driving Directions
Guests not staying at a Walt Disney World® Host Resort will need to provide their own transportation. For participants driving to Epcot® on race morning, expect significant delays! Some roads begin to close as early as 11:00 p.m. on the night before the Half Marathon. Therefore, please use directions below and plan to arrive no later than 4:00 a.m. You must be in your corral at the start line by 5:00 a.m. or you will not be allowed to start. Please note, it takes 20 minutes to walk from the Family Reunion area to the start line. Please use the directions below. Directions from a GPS device or other sources will be inaccurate.

I would recommend staying at a host resort. If I understand correctly, you are talking about running the 2013 race not running next month. The host resorts will likely be the same for next year, but they will have that information posted when they update for next year's race. Probably 8 to 9 months out.

I ran the Princess half last year. We stayed at Bonnet Creek and it was very easy to drive to Epcot. There wasn't too much in the way of traffic, but we did leave on the early side.

We stayed at Beach Club Villas and drove to the Epcot parking without incident. World Drive is open to the Epcot exit which will take you to Epcot parking. We left BCV early anticipating a crowd on the roads but were pleasantly surprised.

Thanks everyone for you comments...I think we will wait and see what the host resorts will be for next year and then probably stay there. It is good to hear that the traffic to Epcot for the start may be doable as well. I appreciate all your help!
