Are they larger than the sofa beds?
More comfortable than the sofa beds?
For an adult, is one better than the other?

If the Murphy bed is down, and the sofa remains a sofa, is there room to walk around the Murphy bed & be able to use the sofa as a sofa?

When the Murphy bed is down, does it block access to either the verandah or the connecting room door?

We're 1st time cruisers and have appreciated all the help we've been getting here on the Dis. We'll be getting 2 state rooms: Deluxe Family with Verandah, & are now trying to decide if it would be better to have a Murphy bed or not. We're also trying to decide which deck to go for.....most likely either 7, 8 or 9. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!

The murphy bed is a twin sized bed. The sofa bed is a twin sized bed. They use the same mattress. It's your call whether you want use one over the other.

The murphy bed is in the wall next to the veranda door. It blocks the veranda door when open. The sofa bed isn't the typical pull-out type. The back of the sofa folds down over the seat (like a Pullman bed). It doesn't take any more floor space that the sofa does.

Thank you for the picture. That helps a lot. So both of the beds are a twin. Is one more comfortable than the other, especially for an adult?

Also, in the picture I don't see how the overhead bunk is accessed. Is there a ladder somewhere?

Thanks again.

To give you an idea of the size of the Murphy bed...my son is 6'3 and our room steward said he was too tall and so he slept on the pull our couch. It was very comfy however. :goodvibes

....

Yes, there is a metal ladder that just wasn't set up in the picture posted. It has hooks that latch over the side of the top bunk.

Something else that may come into play if it's an adult staying considering using the Murphy bed if there is a weight limit to them. I'm not sure, just wondered once seeing the helpful picture.

There isn't a limit on the sofa or murphy bed, but the upper bunk has a limit of 220 pounds.

Hopefully, we will be getting connecting rooms. Where is the door located that connects the 2 state rooms? Just wondering if it is near the foot of the Murphy bed when in the down position.

I believe it's more in line with the foot of the main bed in the room. On the opposite wall from the head of the bed.

Thank you for the picture. I had 4 of the beds accounted for and just could not figure out where that last bed was. This is a great picture! :thumbsup2

This is what I remember (Magic-2007) its approx. the foot of the main bed. lots of room when the door is open, or if it needs to be opened.

The connecting door is next to the cabinet on the side of the closet. If you were to walk forward from it, you would go on the side of the larger bed next to the bathroom.

Just a note to say that if the no one is actually using the Murphy bed at the time, but it is set up for the night, you can take off the pillows and mostly close it for access to the veranda. Same thing can be done in the morning. You can access the veranda when it is down, but you have to maneuver around it.

This info really helped us to make our decision. Loved the picture. Thanks again everyone for your helpful remarks.
