Questions about The Magic?

I just got off the Magic this morning and would be happy to answer any questions people have. Please note that we sailed without children so I won’t have any insight on children’s programming.

Who were your captain and cruise director?
Which shows did they do?
Any issues with the ports?
Did you have a great time?

We definitely had a great time but it was very different and we did not participate in any ship activities.

We had a double dip at Castaway cay. The first day was quite cool. We walked around the island a bit and then spent the rest of the day enjoying the empty ship. The second day was glorious, With only 800 people on board, the island was still practically deserted. There were no excursions and none of the Bahamian retail operations were open.… but the water was warm, the sun was hot and the beer was cold! We have been to Nassau several times so we didn’t get off the ship. There were two other ships in port so downtown would have been crowded anyway.

I can’t remember the name of the captain. Darren was the Cruise Director.

Shows: Tangled - excellant. We really enjoyed it. Disney Dreams - we didn’t go see it.

Interestingly, they can’t use the hand terminals for Bingo so a person would have to actually pay attention to win!

There was no Castaway Party or Pirate Party. There were two 5 minute fireworks shows that were quite underwhelming if you are familiar with the normal Pirate night show and fireworks.

Overall, the cruise was great. The staff is trying so hard to make things enjoyable. Like I said, it was very different and as long as people go into it with realistic expectations in light of the pandemic, they will have a good time.

We just did the Very Merrytime version of this itinerary in December and our experience was very similar, but I think our ship was quite a bit fuller (more full?). Everything was open for us at Castaway Cay. All of the excursions were available, but a couple got cancelled because not enough people signed up.
