Questions about the Magic (Western Caribbean, Common Grounds, etc)

Hi everyone. I have a few questions about the Magic.

First of all, how is the 7 night Western Caribbean cruise? Is there plenty to do? How is Key West, Grand Cayman, & Cozumel?

We are looking at a January cruise, for my parents, and a friend of mine and I (both 17 for the cruise). We have only ever cruised once, on the Wonder. During this cruise, Common Grounds really never had much going on. What is it like on the 7 night? Will there be lots of people our age, and what type of activities go on? It didn't seem like there were many teenagers on my last cruise.

How many nights is there kareoke? Really enjoyed going to that on the Wonder.

Where is the deck party at (city)?

How are the category 11 cabins? We stayed in a 5 the last time. And, does the Magic usually have the 'upgrades' at the pier available? If so, what would be the price to upgrade to a 5? (from the $849 special)

Would the Magic be a good cruise for us? Or, would you suggest going with another ship (Mariner/Explorer/Navigator of the Seas, Radiance/Serenade of the Seas, Constellation, Zuiderdam, Golden Princess)?

Any other tips? Thank you!

Here is a link to our 7 day Western cruise we took 1/4/03. We have three teens, DD19, DS18 and DD15. We have cruised DCL 7 times already and they LOVE THE CRUISE!!! They always meet people their age. I think they feel the same way about Common Grounds...they usually go there to meet people and then attend the activities that interest them. The rest of the time they hang by the pool, the movies, etc.

The deck party is on Wednesday night in Cozumel and it is great.
Not sure about the upgrades...I guess it depends on how full the ship is that week. Do not know what the prices would be.

Check out the navigators on Dave's site to see what nights have Kareoke at www.dcltribute.com

There is also pics of our August western cruise at that site that has pictures of the beaches at Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel and Stingray City in Grand Cayman.

Thank you, MJ. :) I'm glad to hear your teens enjoyed the cruise. What is their favorite part of it? (BTW, excellent pictures!)

I don't think they had one favorite thing. They just love the whole cruise experience. We have done WDW at least 30 times and the cruise 7 times. We have all decided that we like the cruise better. We were getting tired of the whole line thing at WDW. I think they like the freedom of the cruise. We are not in their face every minute about where they are what they are doing. They have proven themselves to act responsibly. My son loves being able to get food 24 hours a day!!!

We always all have dinner together as a family but other than maybe passing on the pool deck...we don't see too much of them on the cruise!!! Well, now that my two older teens can enjoy the adult areas of the ship we do see them a bit more.
