Questions about the Blue Bayou

Hello!

I apologize if this has been asked a million times.

My DBF has been dying to eat at the Blue Bayou but for some reason or another we've not gotten around to it. For one, I am a very picky eater. I don't like sea food at all and I mostly stick to eating normal stuff like burgers and pizza.:thumbsup2

I've been doing some research and I want to surprise DBF with dinner at BB. Is it possible to make reservations? How far in advance? I'm thinking on maybe a Sunday evening at the end of this month. What is a good time? DBF works until 5pm on Sundays so we don't make it to DL until about 7. Is BB still open??

Also, like I said I don't like seafood. I was thinking of ordering the tesoro island chicken or maybe even the ribs. Any food recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

The Blue Bayou is open for business. P.S.'s can be made. They differ from a reservation. A p.s. stands for priority seating, meaning that one will have priority over walk up guests. They can be made 60 days out.
I recommend a water side table. They are especially nice. They cannot be requested over the phone, but instead arrive at least 20 minutes before your p.s. and ask for it then, at the podium.
I very much like The Blue Bayou. I have ordered the Tesoro Island Chicken, on more than one occasion. I found it to be very tasty. I very much recommend it.
For dessert I recommend The Tortuga Trio of Creme Brulee. Yummy! It is served with a cute little Davy Jones chest replica, that contains a Blue Bayou chocolate mint. Those too, are very tasty! And they are made on site.

Have a wonderful dinner!

You can make priority seating arrangements 60 days, I believe, out. I don't know how late they are open, but you can call Disney Dining and find out.

I'm vegetarian so we have only had the portobello and couscous dish, and I've heard reports across the board on the chicken and the ribs..some love, some hate, some "meh". :)

Sorry I forgot to add The phone number for Disney Dining. 1-714-781-3463.

Making a reservation is a sure way to get you in. It's really hard to eat there w/out one. You can make a reservation 60 days in advance or sooner. They will ask you what date you want and will tell you what times they have available so you can choose from there. They usually have late dinners available from what I've experienced.
As for food, I've had the chicken before and it's good, but wasn't my fave. I really liked the pork chops, but I saw that they took it off the menu! I would think that the ribs would be good, sounds good to me. Or what about the filet mignon? I'd personally choose that after the ribs.

Regarding the priority seating requests, they are not the same thing as a reservation. For there is no guarantee that one might not find themselves waiting for a bit, before being seated. I highly recommend booking a priority seating, and in advance. I have made mine several days before my preferred date, and had no problem, fortunately in doing so. Some people have not been so fortunate. Hence, booking earlier. For me, I had a major hunch, that everything will work out, just right. As I am sure that it will for your plans.

Bonne appetite! :)

I had the chicken when I went there during Halloween weekend. I have to be honest, I wasn't wow'ed. Part of the problem was that with the lighting, the chicken looked PINK in the middle!! It may have been cooked through, I just couldn't tell, but it turned me off so much I wasn't able to finish it.:( :( :(

I'm not a seafood/fish person either but I did have the jambalaya and liked it. I've also had the monte cristo at lunch (I didn't know they wouldn't serve this for dinner!) and loved it...

Thanks everyone!

So, I'm thinking I'll call that number (Thanks Gisele!) and ask for preferred seating the week of. Also, DBF does not work Saturdays, so if anything we can always go on a saturday and be out there earlier.

As for the food, I guess I'll just play it by ear. I know this is going to sound silly but, what is exactly is filet mignon?

No it is actually very expensive "yummy steak from the tenderloin"
I have been fortunate enough to dine at some especially nice restaurants and the Blue Bayou's pricing for this cut of beef, in comparison is in my opinion more expensive, from it may be worth. This entrée has received mixed reviews. The cut itself can be fine. However in the wrong hands, it can end up tasting like a dried out sponge (I am not referring to the Blue Bayou but instead from my experience elsewhere)
